  1. thats brilliant phil! If I'm free I'll come to the next meet to offer a few suggestions on things to do saturday night, but a run out sounds like a goods idea!.....If anyone is interested in a much slower alternative, on the saturday night (around 6pm ish) we hook up big trailers to carry passengers ("invited guests") on the back of our traction engines and have a run out to the local pub in Ravensthorpe (about 40mins traction engine ride each way). The pub puts on a free buffet & bbq (not free). video of last years road run........... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6L7QpIMPM8I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwuCxeIVdz4
  2. Hi Phil, Tazzman and Dundee will be emailing me their entry forms shortly to take up to Hollowell this weekend.

    Megajolt Maps

Have a look through these, you should find a few for a zetec; http://www.autosportlabs.org/viewforum.php?f=15&sid=649e97a8179c9633a26de3e97e03b68a As you'll probably know, the megajolt has the function to run 2 different maps which you can switch between whilst driving. This is very useful as you can upload 2 maps from the website and switch between them whilst driving and decide which is the best map out of the 2. You can then delete the rubbish one and replace with a different map....keep doing this until you've got a map which feels good. I did exactly this and when I took my car to the rolling road, the guy said that the map I was running was very close, although needed some tweeking. Ultimatley, if you want it 100% right, you've gotta do a rr, however this method gives you a very good base map.
  4. tough call.....I would be tempted with the 2.1. I have spent a great deal of money and time on my pinto engine and rebuilt it numerous times, however if I was to it all again and start from scratch, I would definatly keep it at 2.0ltr.
  5. I did the 2.1 conversion and I don't think it's worth it. You also end up spending a fortune on 2.1 head gaskets (£40 is about the cheapes and it's rubbish). The gasket on mine (cometic) cost £130. Talking to my rolling road man the other week, he also said that there is not a great deal of bhp to be gained from an over-bore.....however increasing the crank throw has a much greater effect......but a hell of a lot more money!! imho either buy a zetec or if you're sticking with the pinto, concentrate on things like the cylinder head (bigger valves etc...), ignition (megajolt), carbs etc....
  6. As already said above....thanks for sorting this out phil!
  7. Just a reminder to get your entry form's sent off folks! Closing date is the 30th May!!! If it makes things easier, you can scan your filled out form and email it to me and I will take it to Hollowell when I'm next down there (the next couple of weekends).
  8. Had a few hours on the trailer last night. I've just about got the tow hitch fully assembled ready for "full" welding.
  9. dan.....the date for hollowell in the club calendar that you've added appear incorrect. It says the event is 7th Aug to 7th Sept!! That's one hell of a long weekend....U bin drinkin that old engine ale neat?
  10. forget candles, just douse it in petrol and set light to it! Prob safer than all the candles we'd need!!
  11. it would be the timing belt "jumping" a tooth on your cam pulley....or if you have a vernier pulley, it slipping around on the adjustment bolts. From your comp readings it desnt look as tho you've bent any valves and your dizzy would be fine. Take your roket cover off. cylinder 1 inlet valve should be fully open 108 degrees atdc. I would check out valve timing as it is an easy thing to do before looking into anything else
  12. for your power to go all of a sudden, and not rev over 5k.....I would check you valve timing (slipped tooth as mr. stinky arse said above). Your compression results....yes pot 1 is down...but not by enough to suggest a blown gasket or owt like that.
  13. my fav topic lol!! plugs out, open throttle and hot engine. That's the best way to get an accurate idea of the condition of the engine. I would say that 120 closed throttle doesn't sound too bad....you'll prob end up with 160ish at open throttle nick....have you done the "all plugs out" test yet? just wondered what you got?
  14. and grow a beard.......
  15. Hi steve....I've said it once and I will say it again....AWSOME!!!! I would recomend a cometic mls head gasket. These are bullet proof, will take high comp / boost and can be ordered to what ever thickness you need up to 0.120".
  16. phil, with you saying you're waiting for the info to arrive in the post, am I correct in thinking you have aleady spoken to allen?
  17. Mark will be there Sat (late afternoon) and Sun so technically it will count as "both days" if it's needed to push up the figures for a club stand? I think i'm going down on the Wednesday before and coming back on the Tuesday after......loooooong weekend
  18. are we at "club stand" figures yet phil? Don't forget everyone who has put your name down that closing date for the entry form is May 30th!!
  19. Nice one Grim! you comin both days?
  20. Just found a video from last year's show, albeit doesn't show much in terms of cars which attend.....yours truely makes an apperence 7mins 10 secs into the video!! Nick / Dan / Mark....and everyone else for that matter!!! bring your overalls and you can all get "down and dirty" with me...... on the steam engines
  21. i'm knackered too!! went to bed at 1am and up at 5.45am! and my face is so sore from wind-burn from the trip home....I will not soften to a helmet tho before you start nick!!!
  22. it's probably better the forms are done individually because hollowell post you passes and other stuff by return. Leave jethro to push for the club stand as a seperate matter incase we don't get enough numbers going
  23. yep mine will be there! in the past it's usually parked up and forgotten about for the weekend next to a dutton and a locost!! not this year tho!! If everyone puts on there form "friends of derby-dave and son" that will get you put on the top of the pile!!! we'll also get some traction engine drive experiences organised!
  24. I'm sure we could class dan's trailer as a 2b if we park it up at just the right angle!!
  25. Looks like hollowell's gonna be even more of a laugh this year!!! I'm really please people are up for this.. I've just been talking to my dad and it will go one of two ways..... we all have to send off our entry forms by 30th may. Jethro agrees a club stand with allen and we all exhibit on the RH stand. or we all send off our entry forms. Allen (the top-dog head-gaffa) can't accomodate a club stand so we exhibit together in the "cars" section of the show and stick up a few RH banners, flags etc....
