  1. tiger racing do a shortened sump and pick up pipe on an exchange basis- £85 plus £10 postage plus vat and your old sump and pick up pipe. bit pricey but if you cant weld and dont know anybody who does then its the way to go. oh yeah not even painted for that money either. Steve
  2. Phil, if you are talking about the thread on flexi pipes, calipers etc they are m10 with a 1mm fine pitch thread. Steve
  3. try local motorfactors before halfords - 1m fuel injection hose at halfords is £7.99 and for the same thing at motorfactors i paid £3.50. It pays to shop around. Steve
  4. well i spent all afternoon out in the snow swapping the throttle position sensor, idle control valve and the injector wiring one at a time but still no change, so i decided next step was to change the lovely clean butterfly housing for horrible oily one and a smear of red hermatite sealer - result everything back to normal and running sweet again, cheers for the pointers fellas Steve
  5. have just refitted the efi system after having the chop and the engine is running at about 2000rpm, then hunting up and down between 1000 and 2000rpm. everthing was running fine before the chop and all the same parts have been refitted - i'm hoping it's just an air leak somewhere, but any ideas would be welcomed. ta Steve
  6. Peter, get some knee pads cos you will be crawling round on all fours for a few days to sort it out but its worth it. I removed everything that was unnecessary - elec sunroof, windows, central locking, lamp fail unit, auxillary warning unit, speaker wires, ariel lead , they all went into the parts box. left myself with just ignition, charging circuit, lights, indicators, fog lamp, reverse lamp, brakes, fuel pump and sender, dash instruments, wipers, washer motor oh and the fuel injection loom and ecu. Remember check the run once, check it again and then once more before using the wire cutters, the less joints you have to make the less chance of developing any faults. Steve
  7. Phil don't know if this is any good for you - just found it on ebay Steve
  8. Why oh why has she got trainers on - anyone who has to back in to take a dump isn't going to get up and run a marathon in a rush!
  9. Phil, just looked at your pics and in 002 and 005 it looks like you need to trim some metal back on the floor pan to allow room for the gearbox/bell house. could this be pushing the engine forward as it drops into position? Steve
  10. Hi Rusty, get yourself along to your local motor factors and have a look through their catalogues for switches all sorts of temperature ranges and thread sizes available. temperature you need depends on where the switch fits in your system, if it's in the top hose or top half of the radiator you could do with a switch that operates in the mid 90s but if the switch fits low down in bottom half of the rad or bottom hose you need one that puts the fan on in the low 80s so the water goes back to the engine in the top end of the 70s. I'm running a 2l efi with seat marbella radiator approx 10 pints of coolant, fan switch right at bottom of rad but temp range is fan on at 85 off at 78 keeps the needle right in the middle of the gauge - seems fine on test but not been driven in anger yet, not finished but looking at the end of march with a bit of luck! Steve
  11. Gibbo, not saying that they are the best pipes but on the front i fitted jaguar flexis lucas part no. phc 201. Got enough thread on to go through 3 pieces of stainless, have a nut (10x1mm) fitted, make the connection and still have a bit left over. Used the rear flexis from the kit but standard sierra rears will probably do the job? If you want to see them mail me and will send you some pics, also think at least one of the super-speccers may have used them so could be a second opinion around out there. Steve
  12. Whoops sorry bout that Kieran but it was early in the morning. Steve
  13. get rid of the ford one and go for the vauxhall as Kieron says smaller neater and 8mm tails make it a doddle to fit - think they are about £8 new from halfords. Steve
  14. Fantastic result and nice looking car to boot - well done! Steve
  15. Must Cheadle in Staffs cos the Manchester one would have an 0161 phone number. Steve
  16. Jim, the hoses coming off the efi throttle body can go to the brake servo- rigid small bore black pipe, fuel regulator - again small bore push fit onto the regulator and either an 'L' shaped fitting screwed into the body or the small connection under the throttle butterfly position- this might have a rubber cap on it, manifold/head mating face- 16mm water pipe goes to the heater or back to the water pump if you have no heater fitted, to make a circuit and allow water circulation, oil breather - rubber hose goes from oil filler cap to large hose between throttle body and air flow meter, fuel rail- small bore rigid black fuel pipe with banjo union goes from fuel rail to the big fuel filter, fuel regulator again - rigid black fuel pipe back to the fuel tank. Steve
  17. Bugsy and Friar, just seen your post and the woes with front flexis, I've fitted some from a jag that have the same 10 x 1mm pitch male fitting at each end and are 400mm long. The fitting is long enough to go through the body, a second piece of stainless to provide strength, have a nut fitted and then then female connection on the rigid pipe with a few mm to spare, also has a full length spring for protection as a bonus. The lucas part no. is PHC201 and were £8 each. Well done for today and go and get your mac on the 24th. Steve
  18. Olly, click on 'my controls' at the top of the page and you will get to where you need to be. Steve
  19. I thought as much, it's just that I've cut the handle that joins both sides and was wondering if I could just lose one half of it to avoid welding it back together and possibly getting a twist in it. Was going to fit mr2 roadster seats but found that with the solid back the harnesses were too wide at the shoulder for the wife and kids and would have to leave them behind! I know- you all think I should stick with them and have peaceful journeys, anyway some tactical bidding got me a pair of unused intatrim oddessy seats which are going in instead. These are very low and will take an inch of seat runner without making it feel like I'm on the car and not in it. Cheers Steve
  20. I'm just in the middle of fitting the seats and want to know if seat sliders need to lock on both sides or is just one ok? The ones that I'm modding at the mo have a handle from one side to the other and I want to know if needs rejoining or if I can use it to operate on one side only. Do after market sliders lock on one or both sides, can't make it out from pics in the mags. Steve
  21. Cap,n, sounds like you need something like these from midland wheel supplies, the classics are 47cm wide and the baby cubs are 41cm wide.link link can't vouch for the comfort or quality and if you need harness slots then they are no good to you but the price is nice. The rear seats from a volvo 480 look interesting, they are individual smaller type buckets that look like they could be adapted somehow, check out some ads on ebay for photos- volvo comfort and quality and probably minimal use, because nobody wants to keep squeezing into the back of one of those! Steve
  22. Jez, I might be asking you the obvious question but have you tried them on the opposite sides of the car? ps, don't know what the new brackets look like so I could be talking rubbish - won't be the first time either. Steve
  23. some of the old citroen 2cv/dyanes came with rectangular headlights similar to those used by Dax, don't know if they had an integral sidelight or not but you should be able to pick some up cheaply second hand from breakers or enthusiasts. The same idea crossed my mind just the other day - spooky! Steve
  24. chrome pipe trims from plumbers merchants come in 15 and 22 mm to dress up pipe work where it passes through walls or floors, might be what you are looking for Steve
  25. Jase, on the ford dim/dip relay the return from offside goes to terminal numbered 30, don't know it's function ie whether it's neg or not I just followed the pictures. Steve
