2b Wishbone Track Rod Ends

Recommended Posts

Hi all - found one of my rubbers split on track rod end, so replacement required (2b wishbone) - does anyone know what rod ends they are? Done a search and can't find. Or, is it possible to repace the rubbers alone?

Looked at kit spares website and don't think its the Sierra or Escort rack but may be wrong.

Thanks

Cheers all, will get the boots I think, looks like there's a universal set that will fit most things on the 'bay.

I do think its a Sierra or Escort rack, see photos. Car has only done 7k since build so ends will prob be fine.

pretty sure i'm correct saying they are sierra track rod ends. The best thing to do is remove the boot and measure the ID of the bottom hole and ID of the top hole and find some boots of that size. got a feeling they were something like 30mm big hole and 13mm small hole but best to check.

oh just to add. obviously put clean grease in and also be careful putting the spring clip back on as it has sharp ends i used a small piece of card to stop the end digging in.

Cheers all - definitely Sierra TRE's have confirmed now. Bought some boots for about £4 off the net. Just got to get a ball joint splitter and will do this weekend, not a big job really.

If you watch programs like Wheeler Dealers, Ed China just whacks them with a big hammer and they just pop apart :shok:

Thats the way to do it, give the steering arm a good belt with a 2 lb er end on, the sharpe blow breifly mis- shapes the hole that the TRE is in and it pops out.

Do not hit the TRE, to protect the threads incase you are a bad shot.. leave the nut on finger tight.

In all my years as a mechanic and ever since I have never used a ball joint splitter.
