Is It Head Gasket?

Hard wood wedge.

Also (amazingly) Fairy Power Spray will remove burnt on carbon.

I use it on any carboned model aircraft engines.

BUT you are supposed to wash it off with water.....may not be possible with it all in situ.

Maybe a wet rag?

But try it one something else first

Unless there is a lot there I leave it. If there is a lot there to suggest the engines burning oil excessively then you ought to be looking at rings and stem seals.

I still think after a blown head gasket a check for flatness is vital and if ally just strip it and get it skimmed.

Glad you got it sorted. Did you manage to do the tensioner without much trouble?

Les

I tried the old tensioner 1st but pushed it too far in & it wouldnt release, 2nd attempt on new one worked no probs

I didnt have any feelers to use so cut up a bean tin

once you get the knack its quite easy to do

cheers Paul
