So I picked up a knackered gearbox from Grim. Gearbox stripped now and ready for a rebuild. Great gearbox chap. Fully inspected and looks ok. New input shaft ,baulk rings, bearings kit ordered. I spent couple of hours this afternoon modifying the tail housing as I do not want to open a new hole in the tunnel. I modified it and Martin @ Mk welded it.

Pictures speak for themselves

We turned down an alloy spacer to hold the shaft in place and prevent any play so the shaft is aligned correctly

Gearbox built, tail housing needs some paint on it to make it look nice. I have also started to polish the bellhousing. Being friends with Terry aka tazzman is not good for anybody

Moving on to the front brake conversion now. The original Discs on the MG are quite small. I decided to go for a 240mm disc conversion using the ford KA discs.

As the PCD is different, the disc will have to be redrilled at 45 degree from the original hole.

I will be using wilwood calipers for the conversion. So far I have all the clearances am after. I will be taking the setup to a machine shop to have the discs drilled and I will make up a mounting bracket.

Guest 2b cruising

This all looks very good, especially the first picture of a finished article.

Hope you can keep the good work up and complete it without to many problems. Looking forward to seeing the completed car someday.

Regards Ken

Xmas came early and I have some new guages. Sold as owners project was abandoned. I am chuffed at the price, I was not aiming to buy one now but at almost half the cost of new ones I had to have them. Enjoy

Drew up the template to drill the brake discs and printed out to scale. I will glue this onto a plate and centre punch the holes and then drill

That bearded bloke has been again with some more bits. Cannot wait to finish for xmas and get stuck in again. I had 2 extra holes cut into the bonnet to aid ventilation and i think it looks nice. Bonnet is gonna get fitted next week and the dreaded fillering and sanding can begin.

A bit more progress. The fabrication of the roll cage got underway today. I was at the MKEngineering from around 11am and Martin has been doing a fantastic job. the fit is mm perfect. Just enough space for headlining material

I also decided to go with the rover Kseries engine as the cost of rebuilding the A-series is unbelieveable. I decided to cut the battery tray abit to move the engine backwards.

Sorry about the pictures, I have just organised my library and the links seem to be broken I will fix this.

Unfortunately, normal work starts tomorrow and the progress will be undoubtedly slow. Today, I decided to take some weight out the doors as I have a side impact bar.I had a dimple die made up to neaten up the holes. I also had a hole cutter to make it all neat. The dies have put some strength back into the door

I also collected the machined rings for the wheel hubs to convert them into ford 4 x 108 PCD. the rings were machined thicker and grooved to aid weld penetration. The welded assembly will be trued afterwards and balanced.

Its a very tight fit. Had to be hammered in.

I am after some suggestions for the rear windscreen. As you can see from the pictures below, the car does not have a boot opening. I have been thinking of making a openable rear screen to aid access. The rear screen is 4mm polycarbonate material and its not rigid enough to seal. Any suggestion as to a suitable solution to make a frame to mount the screen in?
