Drawing Software

Hi All,

 

I am looking at the possibility of re-wiring the car over the winter but want to get some planning done beforehand. Can anyone recommend any software that I can use to draw this plan out or is it just a case of paper and pencil?

You could buy a Premier loom and fit it in less time that it would take to draw one up on CAD.

If you really want to draw it up, I'd firstly do it on paper/pen as you'll make a few mods along the way and it's just quicker. Then when it's all ready to go neat and tidy in electronic format, you could try Visio (if you have a copy of Office handy) or otherwise if you want something free, there's a version of Eagle that is free for non-commercial personal use - but has a bit of a learning curve.

Personally I use Visio for wiring schematics. But if you don't have Visio to hand have a look at these:

obtaining the different software is not an issue for me and doing this kind of thing i find interesting and enjoyable to learn so im alright at taking the time to get it right.

 

i will take a look at the suggestions so far and see which will work best for me.

Draftsight is free and is very similar to Autocad if you want a copy. Its from Dassault Systems

i am rewriting it to include more modern wiring, (i am fitting a Zetec engine to my car with the fuel injection) but all the basics are there.

AutoCAD is decent. I also use a simulation programming called Yenka which is free for personal use ( and you can test if the circuit will actually work)

I use Smart Draw which is really easy to manipulate.

You should be able to find it free on line.
