Making An S7 Wider

I'm thinking of trying to make my sierra based s7 take some better seats

now I have some nice ones from a mx5 but there 2/3 inchs to wide

so the plan is make transmission tunnel a bit narrower - so before I go at it with the angry grinder has anyone else tried / attempted this or is it a case of it just can't be done cos looking inside the tunnel it only has the prop so there looks loads of room

isnt the transmission tunnel the only thing holding the front and back apart?

As Dave says I really wouldn't advise that unless you're planning on grafting on some serious chassis tubes to make up the strength.

Biksz just hammer his tunnel basicaly but someone on here remove tunnel and replace with thinner one stus does do job though

Yer I'm thinking of cutting it off just behind the gear lever and replacing it with 1.5mm /2mm thick stainless all the way back

If your going to go to that much trouble it's probably better to run some square tube from boot floor diff mount right through to the engine bay bulkhead make a square tube tunnel and clad that
