August 21, 20169 yr I started mine up without the vvt controller it didn't sound good so switched it off asap
August 21, 20169 yr Author Ok I will order the controller from trigger wheels, starting the engine swap early next month. Thanks
August 21, 20169 yr Mine ran fine when I went from blacktop to ST on the blacktop map. Cam was properly timed up. Fairly gutless above 2000rpm. Before the advent of the separate VVT controller most of us ran full retard to 2500 or 3000 ish rpm and then full advance up to 7000. Cam movement was all or nothing. Quite normal to map in zero advance for easy starting and up to 1000rpm, even with a VVT controller. After a rebuild, turn the engine over without the plugs in till oil pressure is well up before you run it ( or the inlet cam advance mechanism will rattle ) and it will run fine. Nigel As soon as I could I got it on a rolling road and both ignition and fueling maps were changed substantially. Edited August 22, 20169 yr by Longboarder
