I don't know if anyone can help.

I have terrible trouble with the heat from the engine coming into the cockpit of the car.

He gets so hot I've raised the fire wall and added foam so this is now flush against the bonnet but I'm still getting hot air coming into the car it is unbearable.

Any help much appreciated

Elliot

You probably need to get rid of more heat from under the bonnet.

Have a look at fitting additional louvres in the bonnet sides.

Try yacht chandlers for stainless ones

heres where I got mine from

I just wrapped the manifold to level with the side panels.

This was effective enough to make the cabin a lot cooler and comfortable.

Cabbin is now just warm enough for a little bit of comfort on cold early mornings, but no hot enough to be uncomfortable on hotter days.

It has also helped with the engine cooling.

tell us more.

do you have any louvres or vents in the bonnet at all.

is the firewall sealed from the cockpit. youll be surprised how many aren't. check all the sides and top , grommets fitted etc

what engine is it..do you have a heater . is it stuck on hot.

we can give some good advise from there.

but simply exhaust wrap makes a huge difference.although not all will say its a benfit. ive run it for 4 years with no issue. and it isn't expensive

As the others have said heat wrap makes a lot of difference. Some say that It causes the manifold to rust but I have just unwrapped my old one and there is no rust on it.

Getting the hot air out will make a lot of difference too, bonnet vents are cheap enough. I used stainless steel marine ones, they look OK and more importantly work well.

You won't be able to completely get rid of the heat as some will be conducted through the metal panels and chassis but you will be able to make a big difference with a bit of effort.

One other thing, if you wrap the exhaust manifold you will push the heat further down the system so watch your legs when you get Out!

Seal any gaps so hot air does not get in

Put heat mat around the footwell inside

Put heat mat on the outside of the footwell in the engine bay

Consider heatmat down the gearbox tunnel

Wrap the exhaust

Vent the engine bay

It's never 1 thing but a combination

Do the most important thing first, then one by one the others.

Senseless doing everything straight off the bat.

Heat mate is bloody heavy and can be fiddly to get every little hidden corner.

As said one bit at a time and you will soon find it is cool and comfortable enough.

I agree with belt and braces when it comes to safety hazards but this is hardly a safety issue. It even helps keep your screen clear on cold mornings.
