March 10, 20188 yr Thanks tractor. Watching that one already. Also have a 2ltr in the garage but it needs refurbing, was planning on putting a turbo on it as well. Project for next winter. Just as t a quick replacement to get me back on the road.
March 10, 20188 yr Must say I agree with the idea of fitting a nice blacktop 2 litre in place of the 1.8. Caution you not to bother with the ST170. Unless you spend a fair bit more on ancillaries and modifying its not plug and play and generally disappoints.
March 10, 20188 yr i am turbo fitting at the moment and have used the st170 bottom end with the standard zetec 2ltr head

March 10, 20188 yr Silvertop or black? Im a fan for several reasons of the silvertop. But, as has been said a 2.0 is hard to beat. Use your 1.8 flywheel. Its lighter.
March 11, 20188 yr I have a 1.8 silvertop..bit far from you tho, in all honesty id try to get a 2.0 esspecially if you want to turbo it, the 1.8 will need more psi than 2.0 for same power. Thats then getting into reliability issues due to heat etc. Whats up with your 1.8?
March 12, 20188 yr Mine has spun a shell and will need new crank, con rod and shells. Just to get me back on road quickest and costing about the same if not slightly cheaper is to put another engine in. I have a 2ltr but it needs stripping. Don't have time at moment as moving house. Crappy timing.
