Just some cheap classic 20/50 from Wilkos which will do a couple of miles and will dump it for a better brand. I dont think the oil had much to do with it really I suspect the frustration and heavy right foot with the thought of it will break or make it lol.

Wow thats some mpg return what engine / carbs are you running? My pinto with r1 carbs seems to make fuel disappear very very quickly lol But in response to your question a little fault finding with a multimeter will answer a lot. It will be the dash, wires or sender. I do have a couple of Sierra clusters in the shed.

Depends where you mount it. If you fit to front of the radiator then you want to push cold air through the radiator. If you fit as you describe at back of radiator between that and the engine you want it to pull cold air through the radiator

Prices would be good, Im looking for the later Robin Hood with the union flag style nosecone badge. I think these were the same as fitted to the wheels aswell size wise will have a measure up when I get home. I do have a new original yellow one but dont want to stick it on when I dont really like it lol.

Yes I set them at 0.20/0.25mm not thou. Im unsure what the oil was in there apart from it been new from the rebuild. Anyway had it out a couple of times and its fine so must of been something sticking.

Sabelt also make ones specifically for our 7 type cars so are shorter in length and buckles in the appropriate places.

Congratulations I did mine last month. The first drive out is just something else. Fortunately Id already realised about the forms so had requested them early. I used the v55/5 form. I also sent it special delivery then you know they receive it to the k&r dept. I included a prepaid special delivery envelope / bag too for the return of all my receipts. From posting to receiving docs and logbook back was only 8 days but had to wait a further 3 days to the start of July for the tax to start. God that was hard. So I pulled the top off today and tested them all 3 were slightly off but only just and by Ben too tight 0.05 any way adjusted them and the noise was still no better. Decided to drop the oil now the engine had been run for a few hours and done that one trip as it came with oil in so wanted to make sure it had 20/50 in plus if there was any rubbish in there. Started it up no different. Ran it at 2000rpm for 5 mins. Still noisy but ever so slightly quieter. Decided to risk it and take it for a blast down the road seemed ok so give it a little boot a couple of times came back and its perfect just as if was before the problem silent as anything. Not sure whats going on but could a valve be sticking? Therefore the spring not doing anything hence the noise

Sorry its a pinto running r1 carbs, so its the tappets I need to adjust. I would take it back but means driving it there to then leave as it needs to be only done on a cold engine. And its a case of when it gets done there very old fashioned business lol and I also need to get it painted so would rather just give it a bash myself then atleast I know everything is tight. Mechanically Im good changed many a clutch and gearbox etc over the years just never really had to do bits in an engine lol.

Morning all, so yesterday was my first drive in the car from passing Iva all went pretty well apart from the top end. Had the car set up on a rolling road as its on r1 carbs and he set all the top end as it was well out from a full rebuild. Did all of 20 miles yesterday and now sounds like a can of stones again. He hadnt tightened the rocker properly one bolt was out and another half out so just hoping he hasnt tightened the lock nuts off properly and the clearances have changed. Any advice on setting them ie in what order as Im going to have ago myself then I know its right I have the tools needed anyway. Cheers Mike.

Just for other people I received all my paperwork back from dvla yesterday as I included a self addressed envelope prepaid as special delivery so I knew I would get them back safely, and today my new logbook arrived Rather pleased 8 days from sending all the info off I thought was pretty dam good. Along with receiving an age related plate that I was hoping for and them actually stating the emissions on the front of the v5 so hopefully no issues come mot in 3 years time. Can not wait till Sunday for the tax to kick in and it will be going for its first trip out sadly once I finish work lol.

Tried thinner engine mount rubbers or different engine mounts.

As above I also cut and welded mine to clear things as needed. I also welded a plate in the rear of it to strengthen it. I do have a spare pedal as I have a second pedal box in bits. If its standard Ill let you know but I have a feeling it has been modified too.

Thought that may be the case. So I can get this lot posted then sort the insurance as they will do an online check for the insurance and wont need to include a insurance certificate in this application then.

Photocopy of driving license Cover note with my contact details Cheque for first ref and 6 months tax Build photos A good chunk of receipts for parts Ive purchased. Do I need insurance on the vehicle before they will register and tax it or can I do that once I get the docs and a refund number back? Thanks Mike.
