ok guys / girls.
A slightly diff take on an old theme.
I have a 2.0 blacktop zetec with type 9 box and am thinking of converting over to auto in the winter
I don't track day the car or thrash it I just cruise about on the occasional Sunday
So any idea which bits I'll need and from what cars etc.

so having driven the hood for some months now and having the temp needle sitting between 108-120 +c
(2.0 zetec ) even though it's still within normal limits I've never been happy looking at the temp it's running at. ( too many old pintos )
So long story short I went and bought the pump and controller . Fitting took approx 30 mins and the controller is like 3 wires and 2 plugs. !!!
You can set the temp that you want the car to run at - take out the stat and take the impeller from the standard water pump
Set the temp on the controller to 95c and on Sunday went for a run.
The result is the car sits at 100c on the gauge - all day. And the pump runs for 2 mins after switch off so no heat spots etc.
in short I'm well pleased. !!!!

Hi I have box loads of auto sport /Motorsport mags from the 50s /60s /70s all in mint condition taking up space in garage if anyone also interested.
-
Hi all.
Just to clarify.
This is not a clutch drag problem or a gear select problem
The only problem this gearbox has is it locks in third under 20 mph.
-
Hi all i have an interesting problem
my Type 9 is perfect in EVERY way no noises crunches jumping out of gear etc EXCEPT !!!!
if i stop in third i cant get it out of gear ????
this happens only in third no other gears
the only way to get it out of gear is to drive the car over 20 mph ( clutch killer ) then all becomes good again till i forget to drop it into another gear below 20 mph
im kind of living with it but its becoming a right pain in the b*m
any ideas ?????

Hi I'm running a 2.0 zetec with type 9 and 3.38 sierra rear diff but that's got 190 Bhp and 8k rev limit. It pulls 5th no problem but after about 130mph the car starts to lift off the floor so not sure what it will pull to but I've had it at 5k plus and it pulls like my old pinto did in 3rd.
Also a company called TICKOVER in Kent has v6 type 9s coming out there ears!!!!!

ok on webers on a standard 2.0 zetec
base jets are ..........
36mm chokes
145 mains
155 air jet
50-f6 idle
45pump jet
40 spill valve
F16 emulson tube
or
drivabilty
34mm chokes
145 mains
f16 emulson tube
175 air
but you need the 5 progression hole carbs or it will never run right
if you dont have these then weber do a conversion - so you send carbs to them they drill progession holes and jet it correctly
50/F9 idle
45 pump
-
Hi is it on webers or delorts
-
yep get the universal gaiter
you cant split a sierra shaft you have to cut it off with a grinder and get the new joint crimped on
not one of fords better ideas !!!!!

With a tig welder do I need a massive bottle of argon or can I use a hobby bottle from say machine Mart ??
-
Check the micro switch on the throttle stop. The car won't start if switch is open
-
Hi yes you need a lead that changes over 2 pins. If you can't find it on web page just phone them up and they will post one out.
When you downloaded software have you looked at the home screen. It should be a red page with dials and a load of options across the top In basic setting near the bottom you will see rev limit. You just change it to what you want eg. 6400 to 7500 them press up load and job done
-
Here is the link.
http://www.webcon.co.uk/Download_Centre/index_new.html
I know what you mean about to good to be true but please bear in mind that unlike mega jolt etc weber has been around like 40 yrs + and there stuff is fitted by major manufacturers Lamborghini ect. not just tuners. so they research properly and spend ££££££ doing so
-
Come on guys if your going to give advice on here at least know what your talking about !!!
Fact 1. Webcon is not and had not been dealer only adj for years ( you can down load the software from there site for free all you have to do is buy the lead £25 )
Fact 2 read any advert for webcon and it says in big letters SOFTWARE NOW INCLUDED so you don't even have to down load it !
Fact 3. Webcon is the only manufacturer that only sell one ecu so if you buy it to just run sparks then want to run full management injection then you only need to buy the new loom no need to buy a 400 then a 600 when you want you upgrade to injection etc
Fact 4 If you tell webber your set up when you order ie GBS single plenum or throttle body's etc it will come 100% ready to use not with a get you started base map that still needs a rolling road tune
I could go on but please don't start going on about what it can't do till you know what it can do!!
I chose the alpha cos it's a fit and forget item not at tweek all the time item.
-
I have the software for webcon
But the alpha is set to 7200 as standard not 6400??
I have a really good relationship with webber as my car was used for there development work on the alpha and for £65 I'd send it to them. Or you'll sell secondhand at a loss them spend ££££ on a new ecu then have to get it set up agIn etc.
and the arp bolts are a must !!! Ford limited revs in a mondao to 6500 for a reason !!!
-
I too have the flight speedo but I fitted the ford electric sender to the gearbox and let speedo calibrate itself. I've tried the senders on the prop etc before and never seemed to get it right all he way up the speed range.

That's what this great clubs here for !!!
There's loads of really great people on here.
Any car your prob going to look at on auction sites you can bet someone on here's already talking about it
No question is silly but all banter is welcome.
If you see something you like ask away at least you'll know what your getting ( good and bad points ) also any known probs and how other people solved them .
-
There is a lot of topics on this subject do a search and you'll find lots.
As for the stress fractures we all seem to have these although mostly around the front. Yours is the first I've heard of near the main tub.
Can you get a pic ??

Got this today from the dutton owners club !!
Hi my name is Daryl Heasman ,I will be coming to look at all the cars tax discs at Stoneleigh , I deal directly with DVLA's criminal investigation unit regarding the cloning of Dutton cars , I will also be going to see the Jago Jeep club as they have this problem also .
-
GBS do a loom that does that for the smiths ones. Not sure on price but if cheap enough can easy be adapted
-
This is so wrong. This is purely someone who has bought a dutton and nicked the vin number and plates from it
Some poor sod will buy this and get it crushed and loose everything !! People that do this are not welcome here .
The thing is the dutton owners club are very hot on this so they will inform vosa and in a few weeks someone will get a visit and loose some serious money and make this club look bad cos he or she won't say o I bought one of them robin hoods and got knocked they will tell everyone they know I bought one of them s*it robin hoods it was a ringer there all sh*t don't get one !!

Stalk is two plugs and two Philips screws. 10 min job. But make sure you replace with same type as internal wiring is different.
Also how you mean sticking ?
