  1. Hi, try Dampertech (www.dampertech.co.uk) they stock direct replacement front coilovers for the 2B (and rears) and will also supply a spacer to match the bolt sizes supplied by RobinHood. I've just got a quote of £340 for full set or £170 for fronts only. Nick.
  2. Hi, Do like Barry says. I did, mine cost £30, but it was local to me. Nick

I'm hoping to be there all weekend, may have to call round to see my Dad on the way home though (Fathers day sunday) I'm near junction 31 M1 so it's A57, A1, A46. Should take about an hour, so will be there 7pm ish. Nick

    Instrument Perspex?

Hi Mike, I'll go for the Lexan if you don't mind. Sizes are 5 by 13.5 inches, or 125mm by 340mm Many thanks, and see you at Newark Nick
  5. Hi all, quick update.. I've raised the "things" at the front a little and it's better (They don't deserve to be called coilovers). But I'm ordering coilovers from Dampertech, to pick up at Newark. Oh yeh, my wife keeps asking when I'll have finished working on my Hood..... Anybody know a good reply!!!! Nick

    Sva Date

Hi, lastest things on SVA (so Mick, the guy who SVA'd mine said) Are checking if Fog light and mirrors vibrate. I also had to put big plates inside the nose to stop the indicators vibrating. Nick

  8. Well, today was the day. Got up this morning just expecting to start on the windscreen.... then the postie arrives. 1 letter, my tax disc. Trip to DVLA office for registration certificate. Plates made up. Windscreen fitted. Then took the Wife out for a spin (YEEEEEEEEEEHHHHAAAAAAAAA) She said "what's that noise" I said "the chassis hitting the road" She said "how do you stop that" I said "Buy new coilover for £150" She said "OK, can you get them for Newark?" What a woman!! So, apart from the scraping noises, it was a great run.... See you all at Newark, or even Donnie.. Nick

    Sva Passed!

Well done, great feeling isn't it. Like others say, make sure you take everything with you, and ask for a registration certificate (Or you can't get number plates made up). Hope to see you at Newark. Nick

    Instrument Perspex?

Hi, I wrote the dimensions on the garage wall, so as not to forget them!!!! Forgot to bring garage wall to PC I think it was 12.5 inches by 5.(something) I'll be happy with either standard piece or something else suitable. I'll be one of the guys with a big grin... and a blue 2B. (Reg F198 ---) Nick
  11. If I was ever stuck with what to do, or fed up with how something was going, I'd have a tidy and re-org, then write a list of jobs to do. Within a couple of days, the list would have loads of ticks on it, stating "JOB COMPLETE", very satisfying!!! Nick

    Instrument Perspex?

Mike, I'm taking the bonnet off tomorrow to do some work, so I'll measure it then. From memory it's about 4 or 5 inches by a foot. Thanks Nick
  14. At my SVA the examiner thought I'd sandwiched carpet between the top mount and the belt buckle. When I proved I hadn't he didn't comment on the fact that they look at different heights!! (they're not tho'). Nick
  15. Not thought of that one Enforcer. I may now put 4 screws in each side as an extra precaution. Can anyone with standard screen and doors, measure the distance, from the bottom of the door, to the top of the side panel?? Thanks in advance, Nick
  16. Hi all, I'm having a taller than standard windscreen cut next week, in laminated glass, for a good price. I'll post on here how good it is after fitting. My question is, how much taller can I go? Bearing in mind I'm fitting the standard weather gear. I've cut out a standard template, and one 65mm taller. The taller one will fit the frame, but I'm concerned about wether the doors will fit ok. Nick

    Brake Hoses

Hi, just a tip, I cut the end off a suitable sized nut cover, and threaded this on before fitting the flexies on the front. Then I was able to push it over where the hose was fastened through the body work. This is the best photo I've got of it. Nick

    Pinto 2.0 Carb.

Hi , Ron (Nightracer35) is having trouble starting a new post, so I've started this for him. What Ron needs is someone to help getting his engine running, or loan him a 2.0 pinto carb to see if his is knackered. So, if you can help, and are in the Rotherham/Sheffield area, or are going to the Newark show, please contact him. I'm sure he'll post a reply on here with contact details etc. Nick
  19. Hi, I used the rubber edge trim from around the inside of a Sierra rear hatch window, then covered with a cheap camping mat, then covered with vinyl supplied by RH. The SVA man said this would have passed on its own, but I added an extra trim piece. Nick
  20. Mat, I may have 1 hidden in garage!!!! Will take a while to find, cos I need the Hood out of the garage, and it looks like rain tomorrow. (Car blocks cupboard + cupboard full of junk!!) Nick
  21. Hi all, doing a few creature comfort mods and I cracked the perspex sheet used to face the sierra instruments. Has anyone got a spare? or suitable material to make 1 from? Monitory or liquid recompense can be arranged. I hopefully will be at Newark show for collection/payment (Depends on DVLA!!!) Thanks in anticipation, Nick
  22. Hi, mine passed SVA with wheels set parallel at a garage (their advice) but with higher pressure in the tyres. Nick
  23. Sounds like what I had to do.. Also, I had to buy some decent bolts, cos I didn't have enough and the originals were too short. Nick

    Sva 15/05/07

Well, I was given the bad news today..... no more visits to the SVA place!!!! And the nice man (Mick) gave me a Ministers Approval Certificate. Visited GBS on the way home to pick up a windscreen pillar. I found I had a 2mm thick 1 and a 3mm thick 1!!!! Richard did me a straight swap (another nice man). DVLA man says paperwork and build up inspection in next 2 weeks (He says he can come to my house to do build up on his way home) All in all, a good day Nick P.S. thanks to Phil for turning up at Derby for moral support.

    Sva 15/05/07

Hi all, I think I completed my "do's" on my "to do" list. All unsuitable fastners removed and replaced Sorted radiused edge on rear of silencer Packed out rear of fog lamp so it's now rigid Fitted a 2nd O ring around fuel filler Stuck some big plates inside nosecone to stop indicators vibrating Put my 1st attempt at a battery strap on (Webbing belt) Bent and fitted some flat bar to underside of bonnet, bolted through mirror mount then liberal use of araldite Welded retainer in exhaust and packed with stainless pan scourers (before "silencer") Fitted new discs and pads, and bled with pressure bleed kit Longer bolts fitted to upper seat belt mounts, with washers Also I seam to have lost 2 of the three bolts holding the gear-stick in!!!! I thought it was a bit strange changing gear. Replaced and fitted locking washers. Can't wait for Thursday's re-test now Nick
