Sounds like what I did, with the help of Paul Jepson.

Forgot to say... the home made steering wheel pad passed after a little discussion (a piece of camping mat covered in leather cloth, then fastened on with cable straps) The passenger side dash lower edge would probable have passed without the extra radiused bit. I edged the dash with rubber edge trim, then covered with a camping mat, then leather cloth. Nicko

Hi all, got slightly damp (read "wet") on the way there, but mostly dry on the way back. I've only got a small "to do" list (less than 1 page). Lots of wires fixed with unsuitable fastners (sticky hooks from work) Rear of heat shield on exhaust needs another fixing on radiused edge Fog lamp vibrates Fuel filler not radiused (bottom edge stands a little too proud of bodywork) Front indicators vibrate Battery retaining strap conductive and near terminals Mirrors vibrate Noisy exhaust Rear brakes lock up before fronts Washer required at bottom of upper seat belt anchorage The only bit that concerns me is the brakes, but I'm sure I'll sort it Everything else is just a bit of work!! Hopefully before next Thursday (re-test already booked.) Nicko P.S. The drive was great fun, even spinning the wheels when leaving the petrol station.

Hi, my insurance was the same whether I had a 1.6 or 2.0, they didn't even want to know how it was fed!! (carb or inj.) Nicko

Test is at 8am, that means a 6:30 to 6:40 start. I've already warned some of the neighbours!! The weather reports are looking decidedly wet , so it looks like I'll be drying the carpets out for the next few days Andy, you're welcome to call round in the afternoon, to see if it's a pass or not. The only screw heads I think are visible are the ones on the front wings, they're all button heads. I've taken a few photo's with my phone, but to put them on the PC I need to drop the firewall, so maybe later. Thanks to all Nicko

Hi all, the jack is a 2 tonne trolley jack, and it worked ok this evening. I've also had the car started, reversed onto the drive, then drove up the ramps again and all seams to work ok!!!!! I'll be checking tomorrow if any more have appeared (when it's daylight). Thanks for info and ideas. Nicko

Hi all, over the last few week I've been finishing of my 2B. After having the car out on the drive and doing a few jobs (jacked up, on ramps, then a sneaky spin up the road) I found about half a dozen 5mm or 6mm ball bearings on the drive. I don't know whether they've fallen of my car, were there before I started, I picked them up in in the tyre treads from the road, or if they have come from a tool or jack I was using. Any ideas??? Hi, it was burned down earlier this year. They opened up in another unit on the same estate and were still trading a couple of months ago. Try their website MAC1 Nicko

Hi, If it's a glass to rubber seal, clean both, then put a thin smear of washing up liquid on the sealing faces. I've fixed a few like this. Nicko

Hi, I've just been looking at an old RH brochure, for their post code, and found an advert for "Zeemeride Coil Over Dampers" which states the spring ratings as follows Black ... 130lbs Red ..... 180lbs Blue .... 220lbs Green .. 320lbs Hope this helps Nicko

Hi Dan, I had loads of problems with mine, untill I found that the VG loom diagram actually shows 2 live feeds comming together!!! I made up charts to show how I'd bodged them and what should rectify the faults. Don't know if it will work when I fit the screen etc., but at least I don't blow fuses when the wipers switch is moved. So my advice is make notes on what colour wires got to what, then follow them through without using the diagram. Nicko

Hi, about 7 years ago I bought a Vauxhall radio from a breakers yard, and they supplied me with a number for a local guy who had kit to find the code from the radio. It cost me a fiver. Might be worth trying local scrappys to see if they can help. Nicko

Hi Ron, this is the info I have stored away, probably from somewhere on here!! 1. There should be 17 characters 2. There should be a mix of letters and numbers 3. It is ok to included a word, or name (but nothing offensive!) 4. You can't use Z, Q, I, or O Hope this helps Nicko

Hi, I've got 1 headlight left in my shed, not sure which side it is, but will check before the weekend. It's yours for free if it's the correct one. Nicko

Hi, I've got a wishbone model and had the "standard" radiator held in place with rope and tape whilst I tried to design suitable brackets..... Then gave up, saw the light, and bought a Capri rad. The Capri rad requires a little bit trimming off the flanges on the sides, and a couple of small brackets making. I used the top hose from the donor, and the bottom is a flexi hose from Halfords (Mk2 cortina, if memory serves) Hope this helps Nicko

Hi, I found that I had a mixture of metric and imperial ends on the brake pipes supplied with my Kit!! I just can't remember which was which, so if I ever have to renew any, It'll be trial and error. All I did was have some of the ends changed, and other pipes made up to suit.# Nicko

Yep, they are. Hopefully a picture or 2 will accompany this text to show them Fingers crossed, another Photo. The wheel nuts are 12 proper nuts for ford alloys and 4 locking nuts with chrome covers and key.

5 Sierra ghia alloys for sale, all with 195/65 R14 Uniroyals. 2 tyres are perfect, probably only done a couple of thousand miles (matched pair) 2 tyres are worn on the inside edge, but legal (matched pair) 1 has good tread but the sidewalls are a little cracked £6 each, or £25 for the lot. I'll even chuck in the wheel nuts Collection only, near junction 31, M1 (Four of them have center caps intact) I'll try to post photo's later in week. Nicko (07958 028607)
