  1. Hi All Was out for a drive in the car today and the handbrake warning light keeps coming on and staying on, even when the handbrake is fully down. At certain times the light will go out but then it comes back on again. I'm thinking the switch on the handbrake may be faulty so I'll be getting a new one, does anyone have the part number for this? Cheers Simon

    Road Trips 2014

I may be interested in a road trip to Scotland too
  3. I'm thinking of going, probably get there for about 11ish. If the weather is OK I may go in the 2B too
  4. Hi Zach I had my mid life crisis a bit early - hit 40 this year and bought myself a 2B ready built as I didn't have the time to build one. Ive always liked this type of car ever since being a teenager (yep I can remember that far back). What can I say, the looks, the noise, the acceleration....... But most of all the smile it puts on your face every time you turn the key and start the engine. You may turn into a hooligan to start with but the sheer pleasure it gives you each time you drive it makes it all worth while when you are out in it no matter what the weather
  5. Hi Shak I have just fitted ZX9R carbs to my 2L Pinto. was running as rough as anything, called Russ at Torquetune and had it rolling road tuned last Saturday. Russ is a magician with bike carbs - he knows his stuff. Give him a call, it will come out of there feeling like a different car www.torquetune.co.uk
  6. Took this carb off my pinto about a month ago. All working well and has the manual choke link on it. I'll get some pics of it over the weekend for you. When I get the pics up and it has what you want then we can discuss the price. Wont be asking too much for it
  7. Believe I took one of these carbs off my pinto last month. Its in the boot of my tin top still attached to the manifold
  8. Well I now have 140 horses at the flywheel :D

  9. Hi RichardL That is similar to what I was thinking, was looking at the Arduino board to drive all of the dash and get the inputs. Would love to share your code. Currently I have the original Sierra instruments, but will be looking over the winter months to go for a digital speedo and odometer and then maybe even put the fuel, rev counter and temp guages over to the digital as time and knowledge allows
  10. Hi all I am thinking of a little winter project - a digital speedo. I'm deciding to play scrooge this Christmas and not to spend money on buying on. Instead im going to try and build one. Now I'm not that good at this mechanics lark, but have been looking into the building of an electronic speedo. The one pint I'm pondering at the moment is Can I take the current speedo cable out of the gearbox and fit a hall effect sensor that would then be able to give me the signal output I need to get the digital speedo working All help and advice would be greatly received Thanks Simon

Hi Think its for the number of members in that are, ie derbyshire, chesterfield..... As you zoom in the pins appear and the number in the blue circle drops Simon
  12. Thanks Rob that would be great - like you say I just need to know which screws to turn lol May take you up on the offer - you around tomorrow?
  13. ZX9R carbs now fitted to the Pinto in my 2B. Now all i need to do is start it and balance them as much as I can before taking it to Russ. This could be good seeing as I have no idea how to balance them. Will need to get hold of the necessary stuff in order to sort it out
  14. The car was rolling roaded a few weeks ago and during the test the fuel pump was found to be faulty - thats why it was replaced. All the timing etc has benn set up and is correct. After fitting the new fuel pump the issue was still there. I have a pressure gauge that arrived this afternoon, so i will fit that tomorrow to check the pressure to the carb. Will get the plug leads correct on the dizzy tomorrow too and hopefully it will fire up. Then i will check over the other thigs you have suggexted. Thanks for the advice
  15. Thanks - will give it a try tomorrow, as long as its not raining!
  16. Firing order on dizzy is 3 4 1 2 as you look at the dizzy I hope that is the right order, otherwise im going to look really stupid - for a change!
  17. checked it all over several times now. All parts are the same as those removed plug gap set to 0.75. The firing order is set to 1342 as per the ford manual. I'm totally at a loss. have packed up for this evening as its to dark to work in the carpark of the flats
  18. Annoyed now, starting to think that this tinkering with engines in cars is not my strongest subject!

  19. Starting to think i an jinxed! So there is fuel coming to the carb and lots of it and seems to be a good pressure when I put my thumb over end (inline fuel pressure gauge on order) but the car is still popping and spluttering. I decided a new dizzy cap, rotor arm plugs and leads wouldn't go a miss. So off I go down to eurocarparts to pick up the bits, no problem. Get back and fit the bits between downpours, as I dont have a garage to work in. Now the car wont even start - there is a spark and the is fuel but it just wont play ball. I know im not mechanically minded as most of you out there so I plead with you for any help you can offer me on the forum Thanks in advance Simon
  20. I have put brass connectors at each side of the facet pump and put an inline fuel filter between the pump and the tank. I have also replaced the fuel filter before the carb too.
  21. Will check that the next time there is enough light, so it will probably be at the weekend. Dont have the car in a garage so its also weather dependant
  22. Wish I was more mechanically minded to sort this out. Thanks for all the help, when they weather is better and I have the time - probably next weekend I will try and get this sorted out
