Just get the ARP ones not cheap but will also give you the option to rev upto nearly 8000rpm

That's what it looked like when I took the old bearings out, no work done to it. My bearings weren't smeared on it. If your going the quick risky root get the crap off the crank and see what it looks like. You can try polishing the crank if it's bad. Just make sure there's no deep scratches or high surfaces which will damage the new bearing

Just for reference this is what my crank looked like before new bearings.

Obviously check how bad the crank is first as you might just be wasting your time to start. Have you got a picture of your bearings?

Don't necessarily follow what I did but, clean the bearing off the crank to check the true extent of the damage as a small scratch is nothing major. I took a chance with mine and just fitted new big end bearings without checking main bearings as didn't want to take the engine out. Applied loads of engine assembly grease to the new bearing shells and bit the bullet and put it all back together. Fitted a new oil filter and oil ran for 30 mins until hot, let it sit for an hour then dropped the oil and new filter and oil again to try and flush the metal out the oil gallery's and it's been ok ever since
  7. Modified focus manifold with turbo below
  8. It was mapped with a boost controller so that would be with higher boost (12psi) but don't own one at the min so only running 8-9 psi so more 200-210. The engines we use should be safe upto 320 ish bhp from what people have done before but on a silvertop I'm not sure what's classed as safe
  9. Me and jas please mate
  10. Just to add I'm currently running in low boost as don't have a boost controller so only 8-9psi
  11. Don't know what you mean rich . Other than sweating power and things coming loose been pretty reliable. As Chris said I made 256bhp don't know torque level as it wasn't on the graph but pulls really well and power all the way to the limiter which is 6800 on mine
  12. Easy build, I used the original ford focus one which was modified to fit the turbo
  13. A few of us are going to bosworth water park for there car meet if anyone wants to join us. £1 entry 6pm - 9pm Bosworth Water Park Wellsborough Road Market Bosworth Nuneaton Warwickshire CV13 6PD
  14. If it sold that quick it was to cheap!!
  15. I hope the project is something special to let that go?

I hate to say it but I said about the bearings when you first posted about the problem, when doing this amount of work it is best to check things properly it will save you alot of time in the future trust me I know, been there and done that. Because the explosion that happens in the cylinder forces the piston back down with more pressure than it just being pulled down. You are taking such small tolerances which is why you can't feel it when moving by hand. If one has failed they all will have. You can buy a set for around £30-40 make sure you use engine assembly grease when fitting new ones. Loads of things can cause this issue, dirt in the oil, oil starvation possibly caused by your pickup being to close to the sump. Wrong oil. Also when you get a new engine you are suppose to run it in with special oil if not done correctly damaged could have been caused

Yes sump off and undo the cap bolts from the rod and it will just come off, there are two Half's to the shell one will be in the cap the other on the rod they just pull off

That video would be a very extreme case which would more than likely need a new crank and pistons not just bearings. mine did not move at all other than sliding on the crank which there suppose to do but the shells were complete scrap Mine would only make a noise on slight throttle then disappear with abit more throttle sounded perfectly fine on tick over but when under load it was much worse.

Ok as I have had all of the above as problems with my current engine, I will say it's still big end bearings! A wiggle by hand is not how you check them they will move on the crank as they are designed to. Take off the caps and physically take a bearing out to look for scratches or bits missing. When going turbo me and Chris noticed I had 2 bent valves and my car ran fine it would pop and bang on over run and at high revs it would feel like it had a misfire but other than that ran great.
  21. Best make sure we have plenty of fluids with that heat
  22. Just buy the GBS ones makes life alot easier
  23. Ye it's got abit of poke and only on low boost This is the best thing that has ever happened to me while in the kit. Was just having a spirited little drive nothing to crazy The guy was loving it but turns out it must have been a little too much for him in the end he did leave saying he wish he could get one
