  1. thanks for the feedback, not quite sure it's what I'm looking for by the looks of things, which is a shame as it could have saved me some work. thanks for taking the time to reply and put up some pictures anyway! Steve
  2. Hi All, I've spotted this on the kit spares website and was wondering if anyone had fitted one? http://www.kitspares.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=43_40&product_id=845&car=43 how was the fit? was it decent quality? pictures? much appreciated, Steve
  3. I wish I'd known about this letter a few years ago! I failed on the same thing and ended up beefing up the mounts to satisfy them at Beverley
  4. Hi peter Sounds perfect. I changed mine for a D shaped one and never really liked the feel of it. And foolishly gave my old one away! Ill pm you later tonight. Thanks, Steve
  5. Hi all I'm after the originally supplied mountney steering wheel, boss and centre horn press. Beer tokens waiting Steve
  6. scrapping or replacing isn't an option unfortunately, as said it needs to last me another year or so and then it can go to the scrappy. I've done a good bit of googling and the best ive come up with is; use a wire wheel to get the flakey paint/rust off treat the rust using kurust paint hammerite underbody seal with added waxoyl onto the area there still is metal beneath the rusty scabs, I couldn't poke it through so im confident I'll be able to make a reasonable job of it. will give it a go tomorrow and see how I get on!
  7. Hi all, Not on a hood, but on my daily drive, which is a mk1 ford ka. I know these are little rust buckets, so I'm only going to be able to delay the inevitable. It's an 05 plate with 37k miles on it and the sills are starting to rust through. I had a look underneath today and there are several 30-40mm diameter rust blisters, some of which have burst exposing very rusty steel underneath. The car isn't worth spending a fortune on by replacing/patching sills and so on, so if there's any way of prolonging the life left in it for not a huge outlay I'd like to hear it please! I did think grinding the rust patches down to bare metal and painting some sort of sealant on top? I guess protecting the inside of the sill is just as important as well though, however as far as I can see I don't have access?! I'm not really in a position to replace the car at the moment, hence why I'm trying to make it last! All suggestions welcome Much appreciated, Steve

I'm a mk2 mx5 owner, would be interested in a run out depending on dates!
  10. i have an obp pedal box. not fully fitted yet. but i recommend using a capri clutch cable (cant remember which model, i think i just went for a pinto engined one) as these have an eyelet at the pedal end, which makes attaching it easy. not sure about accelerator yet, haven't got that far.
  11. hi all im after the sierra stalk wiring plugs if anyone has them kicking about. sold my old wiring loom but stupidly left mine on so if anyone has any, i have beer tokens waiting thanks, steve

  16. bit more progress, pedal box fitted and engine finally in!
  17. gbsc quote me in the region of £1k to supply and carry out the wishbone conversion, which for the work involved I didn't think was bad. ended up doing it myself though and got a friend from work to weld it. the full kit, with all the brackets, wishbones and shocks was about £500
  18. I sent mine off about 3 days ago, I just changed the engine number on the v5. didn't include any receipts or anything, might've been a bad idea not to... will see what happens...
  19. as already said the plates only had about 10mm of weld in the corner that broke, they were never going to last long. what surprised me is that the car has only done about 1500 miles since it was registered and they both broke! new rubbers have been fitted for the new engine grim - yeah I think it was your thread I remember, will check the other points you mentioned. mine is a sliding pillar (now converted) chassis in case it makes any difference to engine mounts thanks, steve
  20. hi all I seem to remember this cropped up a good few years ago on here, so this may be old news to some of you. after taking my pinto out and measuring up for the z20let engine mounts I noticed the plates on the chassis, to which the engine mounts bolt to had cracked. (this photo was taken after they had been repaired) the weld on the right of the plate was the one that had broken, on both n/s and o/s. got them welded back up again so no issues and will just keep an eye on them. just a heads up really, for the two minutes it takes give them a check. steve
  21. Hi All As in title, I'm after a dipstick off a c20xe if anyone has one knocking about? (just the dipstick, not the tube) Beer tokens waiting steve
  22. well I've been slowly doing bits and bats on this for the last month or two since my last update as ever with these projects they never go easy as planned, and theres a few bits I've been meaning to get round to re-doing since I built the car, and having the engine out was a good opportunity. anyway, in order to reuse the original inlet manifold I had to do away with the servo unit, this still didn't give me enough clearance, so looked at steves solution of having a backwards mounted master cylinder, liked the idea but looked a bit too much extra work for me at the moment. I ended up buying an OBP floor mounted pedal box seems a nice bit of kit, with two master cylinders. will take of bit of faffing to get it working with my cable clutch, but that shouldn't be a massive job. also, to give a little more clearance for the inlet manifold I chopped out the original pedal box mounting tube (the one that runs across the car), and replaced it for a bit of straight box st/st 40X40 box section. should look quite neat when it's all done made myself a swirl pot, and a new fuel sender (reusing the sierra level sensor) and I made the engine mounts today for the z20let. happy with how they've turned out! no pictures though. hopefully by the end of the week engine should be in properly and I can start on the wiring, plumbing and exhaust!
  23. hi all i'm going for a floor mounted pedal box as part of my engine change, so my old sierra set-up is up for grabs if anyone wants it. comes with all three pedals, the 5mm steel plate that bolts to the chassis, all the bracing needed (I passed IVA with it) and a 3 year old master cylinder. you'll need a shortened master cylinder push rod (tiger sell them for £11), because I got rid of the servo. can get photos if there's any interest. i'd like £60, master cylinder alone cost me that 3 years ago. collection from York, can also post but it wont be very cheap
  24. hi jamie, i'll get back to you with some measurements and pictures tonight. thanks, steve
