  1. as in the title really stainless steel RH supplied 4-1 manifold. exits through the side panel for a pinto. good condition, no cracks. wrapped in grey heat wrap stuff which is still in decent condition. really did transform my car when I changed from the original cast sierra manifold to this. I think £100 is a fair price, they don't come up often collection from York, or I can post but it wont be cheap
  2. on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251308205375?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  3. took this engine out last night so is 100% for sale now i'd rather it went to someone on here than mess around with timewasters on ebay so im open to offers its a pretty much brand new engine, with everything you need to fit and get running.
  4. open to offers on it before I try some other forums, couple of pictures of the rebuild too
  5. felpro head gasket to increase compression I assume you're using a vernier cam pulley?
  6. hi andy I bought the gbs wishbone conversion kit, but remade the brackets out of box section. looks a little nicer in my opinion and should be a good bit stronger steve
  7. hi all i'm doing the finishing touches to my 2b after a wishbone conversion and was after some second opinions on wether it'd be ok to chop a chassis tube out you see on the right hand side of the picture there is the tube that runs across the chassis right at the front. now that the car has two extra bits of box section holding the front together would it be ok to remove this original tube? I only ask as i'm fitting a bigger radiator, intercooler and oil cooler so I need the space really! thoughts? cheers, steve
  8. hi all just gathering interest at the moment, it may be a month or two before I fully commit to the engine change and pull the pinto out. bit of a story that goes with the engine: I bought my 2b as an unfinished kit, with a reconditioned engine in it. I built the kit, got it IVA'd and left the engine untouched until after I'd got a few hundred miles on it. I then took it to bogg brothers for a tune up who got it running well, with a good increase in power. I was happy with the engine until I managed to break off the centre cam carrier on a run out (still a mystery how it happened), so a strip down and rebuild was completed over winter of 2010 to the following spec. Replacement lightly ported injection head (was acid dipped, all new seals, gaskets, rockers, valves were lapped in again) Bogg Brothers manifold with fireblade carbs on (with TPS) Felpro head gasket Piper 300 cam Vernier cam pulley Engine capacity is 2048cc (block had a +0.5mm rebore with new pistons and rings shortened sump (with a wing on the side) megajolt ignition RH 4-1 exhaust 10.5:1 Compression Ratio High Torque Starter motor When I bought the kit car I was told it had a lightened flywheel but have never separated the engine and gearbox to confirm. After these additions over winter, I took it back to bogg brothers in spring 2011 for a re-tune and it made just over 150bhp at the flywheel. Since the engine was rebuilt (the first time) it has only covered 1200 miles so its like new really! it's a good engine, but i fancy a bit more power and a project so i'm planning on fitting a z20let. not sure how much it's worth really, but for the full package, exhaust manifold, megajolt, carbs etc i don't think £1100 is unreasonable? if anyone's interested drop me a pm
  9. thanks steve, kit car funds have dried up for now, so will have to a wait a little while now before any more progress. managed to make good use of a week off work though and I've rebuild my z20let need to finish my sump, get a bellhousing and then i'll be ready to start trying it for size in the engine bay!
  10. he's only 10 minutes from my house so that's probably where i'll end up although ive heard mixed things about his work
  11. also after a shortened xe sump just thought i'd try my luck here before buying one
  12. as in the title really im after an xe to type 9 bellhousing thanks, steve
  13. hi steve fair enough, i'll always take good advice! I've made a carboard template of the sump extension so will bend that up tomorrow and hopefully weld it up. did you use a baffle plate like on of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OIL-SUMP-BAFFLE-PLATE-GASKET-C20XE-REDTOP-/190823941470?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c6dfe455e hows your z20let? any closer to a fix?
  14. haha, I know what I mean!
  15. pick up pipe sits 10mm below the bottom of the sump im not planning on extending the sump forwards, unless this is essential?
  16. had a little bit of progress on my engine today. chopped down the sump ready to have some 3mm steel welded to the bottom of it. my question is this... I've managed to get the pickup pipe about 10mm off the bottom of the sump, does that sound about right? thanks, steve
  17. no worries I've just replaced it with a polo radiator, which a lot of people on here use. it's a tiny radiator, and it's double pass too. easily fits in the nosecone
  18. I have a Cortina radiator for sale if It helps looks like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-CORTINA-RADIATOR-1970-TO-1982-NEW-/260908811767?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cbf6085f7 mines a bit tatty, but it's yours for £25 plus postage if you want it. can get a picture if you're interested?
  19. as far as I know, it's ok to do. but your compression ratio will be very low. if you do buy it, then either get a 2.0 bottom end or a 1.6 head and have a matching pair.
  20. I have some of these (brand new), I bought them when I had the opportunity a while back I don't think ford or anywhere can supply these anymore. drop me a pm and we'll sort something out cheers, steve
  21. just a thought, i'm going to be fitting a new engine soon, which will probably be run on omex, megasquirt or some standalone ecu like that. not sure if that makes a difference or not
  22. hi all I've been working on the 2b for the last couple of months changing from sliding pillars to wishbones, and i'm not too happy with the overall wiring of the car. since getting the car on the road I had a small accident where some wiring got caught in the viscous pinto fan. I've changed to megajolt, electric fuel pump, etc etc all these alterations and accidents have made the wiring untidy, and a nightmare if I ever had to fault find. so i'm wondering where the best place for a replacement loom is? i'm after as simple as it gets, really don't want the weeks of frustration I had with the Vicky green one, quite happy to pay the extra for a plug and play one - if such a thing exists thanks, steve
  23. valve stem seals are quite a common issue on z20lets, might be part of the problem. doesn't sound good though, hopefully its an easy fix though! let us know how you get on. steve
