  1. Hi I have a box full of bits, as you describe, that came in the back of a car with engine running quite happily withoutthem atached, if you can identify the bit you need I can pop it in an envelope or possibly drop as we could be over to the classic ford meet at Scotch corner tomorrow afternoon, atb Mike

    30k Robin Hood

I was worying about the consuption rate of engines and gearboxes- at the same rate my daily driver would now be on its 10th engine
  3. I went to school there, it was full of chancers, even then!!
  4. If it is of any interest we deal with a firm called Technology Supplies who sell carbon fibre look a like ABS in dash board sized sheets for about £18, it is actually pretty good and nice to work with. We planned to use it in a locost with a set of Telemetrix white faced gauges but are holding on for something better.
  5. Hi Steve, happy New Year no problems, I saw Mrs Todhunter just after Christmas and mentioned that you were probably planing a trip , she is looking forward to it and doesn't need too much notice unless it happened to coincide with the classsic motorbike rally which is usually at Whit Bank Holiday. I have one or two ideas for a suitable car park/autotest area. Driving wise how long a route in miles/ time are you looking at? Simplest route would be HNM , Caldbeck towards Uldale over common, through Uldale follow a sign which points to Robin Hood but actually goes to Bassenthwaite, ( nip up Latrigg - wheel chair path for less than half a mile from carpark!) Keswick, down Borrowdale, up Honister, ( Slate mine / cafe) Buttermere ( the Fish), up lake back via Whinlatter pass ( ? loos @visitor centre) then A66 for a decent blast then up through Mungrisdale via ford to HNM This could be extended in a large number of ways but plenty of coffee stops , lunch sites en route. I will speak to you nearer the time. atb Mike
  6. Steve just been reading local rag and apparently the Old Crown at Hesket Newmarket is to be featured as Al Murray's Pub of the week on his show on Jan 26th!! They now sell their ales in bottles too, at Rheged, Penrith Treat it as home work!! atb Mike
  7. Young Enterprise guys got way laid with selling Christmas trinkets and a home made "Teacher Trumps" game so no action as yet I'm afraid. We go back around 6th Jan so if anyone wants a proto type knocking up - gratis - get in touch and I'l lsee what can be done!! atb Mike
  8. Mitch do you ever go to the Fleetwood Transport Festival its on 20th July this year? The organisers contacted us and it sounds like a decent event and not too far south they seem to welcome clubs too links lawrence.tramsunday@googlemail.com organiser http://jagoownersclub.proboards56.com/inde...read=1197065983 some blurb
  9. We are currenrtly using a Premier loom, if you pay cash or buy at a show a discount is available, phone Allan and enquire!!
  10. This is very true of oither firms eg the AA we complained after being members for about 25 years and suddenly quote for same service was cut in half!! We tookit last year but after feeling we had been conned we have now moved on !!
  11. What about a couple of these? ( link borrowed from Locostbuilders:)) http://forum.rushowners.co.uk/phpBB2/viewt...asc&start=0
  12. Hi Mike, no idea off hand but if you know the shapeof what you want and it will fit in Vac former at work I could knock out a couple of proto types and bring them down. Trimming for column/ switches could be done later I've a rough idea of what you are after but if you send some measurements via email and a pic of the current state of play with the adapted one we can have a look at it- would probably make it out of black leather grain ABS if that would fit with your dash colour scheme. atb Mike
  13. Vehicle wiring products do them too if you are into shoping around!

Jago and Suzuki Sj are of similar proportions several guys in jago club have modified cars by 1) fitting sj running gear + the much loved pinto to existing Jago ladder chassis 2)Jago (no rust!) body tub on to modified suzuki chasis several other variations exist including diesel engines, V6 and the famous V8 dragster - find it on You tube or watch it at York dragway 10.2 second quarter miles edit - great looking car on e bay at mo but it apears( from the tone of the answers to questions) to be offered for sale by a close relation of that fella Norman Bates in those Hitchcock movies

Hi Thanks Mitch, almost predictably we have a few Jagos here and another on the way, it is in Leeds at moment! my 15 year old son's car 1300 x flow car-MK1 based: (This is obviously a deep rooted genetic obsession we share) this is one of the tidiest cars we have owned and it has a matching hard top needs a days work for MOT- steering boots etc , nothing desperate, A Mk2 escort based car we have been running over the summer -has a fresh top and proper doors to fit on when we get time, bought from the builder who ran it for 23 years, currently MOt'd til spring, 1600 x flow electronic ignition, heater , full set of clocks, solid floor, new springs, bucket seats. Has towbar and electrics which work. Featured in Club mag recently with its life history, a well sorted reliable car that would look stunning witha quickrespray. We were thinking Ninja green, rather than Nato one we are keeping- new dash and premier loom going in, telemetrix instruments, harnesses, buckets and finally just to make you grin when people accuse you of being obsessed: we have had 14 of these cars in 4 years, we will get round to building a kit one day, promise!! There is plenty of sound advice on buying a jeep on the Jago Owners Club forum http://jagoownersclub.co.uk/ and always a few cars for sale - register and pop an ad inwanted section , you might hit lucky. Jago maintenance is a dream - see all that space in engine bay and plenty of ground clearance too, and also there are plenty of spares about, copies of build info, adverts, catalogue of accessories are available cheaply feel free to get in touch if I can be of any help or if you want to know anything else about these cars atb Mike
  19. We have ben through this with a car bought as a "rough runner"- turned out electric fuel pump was running dry because tiny filter on end of pickup and about 98% of the pick up were clogged with gunge, Grizzly's idea of the T and 2 filters is very appealing as it puts off the evil day a little longer. I reckon Grizzly should get this months award for "employee of the month" I was going to say BrighT Spark but thought that might be misconstrued as taking the P!! :) Mike
  20. Update Spoke to the lads (no ladies in Young Ents this year- always a recipe for poor organiation) and they are keen to have a go at producing something for this purpose. Have suggested thatone of themshould register and take it from there. Re chassis numbers we have always had a stamped number on chassis, as Steve says, and the plate has been a cosmetic, accessible summary of relevant numbers. Mike
  21. I'm seeing them today . does anyone know if the VIN plate must be metal or could it be "metal look" but actually something else?? Does anyone want to send some info to try out on a realistic example, I have no connection with King Umbongo and internet scams etc ! atb Mike
  22. Hi, We have a small cad engraver at work which we use to make up our own plates usually on ali, I have done this for a number of friends with a variety of kits, while in no way geared up for mass production we are quite happy to knock off a tidy looking plate for anyone in great need if they send us the details. I personally am thinking of the odd plate now and again rather than big numbers!!!! - I'm sure there will be some one who is better geared up for it than us. Problem with large numbers is that the workshop room with engraver in is used quite a lot of the week by kids (I teach in a secondary school ) and it is a bit noisy, also we haven't charged for these other than postage and the occasional pint. We also have knocked out various "built by..... plates" - these have been on double layered engraving plastic which looks like brushed stainless/ alu but is much easier to engrave, this has the build date engine chassis and bodytub numbers on too. Not sure where to go from here- would certainly be happy to help people out but I have no time for a factory operation unless I got the Young Enterprise group to run it- they could knock thing s out during lunchand after school etc. We also have an as yet untested small Denford CNC miller which could probably knock them out faster. Perhaps I should consult the Young Enterprise guys, gather a few Hoodie volunteers with no engine number plates and make up a few test panels to see what people think. Let me know what you think and also if any info other than what is on the advertised plate should be added eg builders name etc. atb Mike
  23. Hi Ray , You are not a million miles away from a builder in Shotton - just down from Pemberton Arms who is in the dreaded grass track racing game or similar - he has a couple of cars and shed loads of pinto stuff, we sold him an engine once and he said then he could do with shifting some of the bits he didn't need, I told him to get it on here as it would all get used, I may still have his number somewhere or you could nip over. atb Mike Ps seems to be some ebay type scare mongering re "scarce pinto bits" to hype prices, our local scrapper had a couple of pinto powered sierras and a Capri in last week all with compete engines and ancillaries
  24. We might have a capri 6 dial dash going spare shortly
  25. Just got to hold on to the cash until the perfect bargain comes along- after 13 kits a few near misses inthe divorce stakes, and a shed full of bits and pieces we picked up a running and registered x flow powered kit (not a Hood but if anyone can match this type of deal please get in touch....... ) with weather gear, brand new big bore exhaust manifold, huge wheels with new tyres, sony tape player and 10 cd auto changer, corbeau bucket seats, plus a brand new set of Smiths telemetrix gauges for less than £600 the lot. Before you all reach for the reply button I have no intention of selling them also justtoput some icingon cake car had been recently resprayed. Am I a happy rabbit?
