  1. Second that vote Gavin. E-mailed GBS about some inner boot panels, quick reply form Richard asking for photos as there were two types of tank supplied for the 2004 SuperSpec that the panels locate around. Took photos and sent them on. Day or so later told panels were cut and would be ready for me to collect at Newark - £33. Al

    Clear Out

Mike, I'd be interested in the indicator extensions. Will be at Newark Saturday, will PM you my mobile number. Cheers Al
  3. Mk 1 1600GT Capri (GFN 763L). Bought it with a blown engine for £25. Stuck a 2 litre Pinto in it (from a scrap MK1 Granada), fitted a pair of twin 40's (picked these up from a local scrapper), chrome Rostyles and the obligatory bag of cement in the boot - not that this helped! Sprayed metallic red with go-faster stripes and fitted high back seats and furry dice. Sold it for £350 to a guy at work who wrapped it round a lampost two weeks later, thankfully no-one hurt. Yes he did take the bag of cement out! Great fun car, great memories. Can still remember the stick I got for dropping the radiator after fitting the 2 litre .............. Al
  4. John, Your tank looks totally different to mine, so cant use as a comparison. Mine has red/white plastic push fit connectors with a 5 pin multi-plug. Hopefully picture attached! FWIW, your assumptions sound right regarding the wiring. Al
  5. Sorry Ron, all parts claimed by gdc via pm. See you at Newark Graham, I have pm'd you my mobile number. Cheers Al
  6. Now that my shiney braided flexis are fitted, (thanks boys) I have a set of new plain rubber flexis for a Superspec going spare. Want to get rid of these before the garage fills up. Also found a spare, (must have proffed this during collection day) bar that the front cycle wing brackets are cut from (this is the multi bent tube). This has some surface rust but should clean up with a quick rub of emery cloth. First come basis, can bring to Newark (on the Saturday), or collect only. Cheers Al
  7. Got the brake pipe shortened (£5), and pipe cutter (2.99 from B&Q), so will chop the copper fuel line to length without leaving sharp edges, thanks for the tip Bob! Will hope to get everything completed, as left, this week-end, will you know. I think the picture shows how many bacon and dog roll's you chomped Robin!! Hopefully work will allow a bit more time to spend building meaning that fire-up will be soon! I think that the other half forgot that Joe and Gavin couldn't make it, but she still cooked for them anyway. We can always rummage up more and I will take you up on your offer Gav for arranging another day. Hopefully the weather will improve a little and work will be kit friendly!! I am still amazed and pleased how helpful fellow hoodies are, specially with total strangers. It is a great credit to the way the club is run and it's members openess. Great club, thanks guys and gals! Al

    Big Thanks

Just a big public thanks to Rob (Robinj66) and Bob Tucker for their help today with everything, see pics. The brake pipes and copper fuel lines have been routed, all that is needed is slight repositioning to allow for more room for the wiring loom. It was good to natter over the obligatory cuppas and bacon / dog rolls, ably and regularly provided by my other half! More piccies to follow when I have tidied up. Hope you guys got back ok, see you at Newark hopefully. Cheers Al And the boys even left some choccy hobnobs for next time!
  9. Just been browsing at my local Halfords, (Broadstairs) for some cutting compound and couldn't find any, (for helping drilling the stainless). I asked the parts manager if they stocked it and he asked what I needed it for. Told him I was building a kit car etc, and I just sort of asked whether I would qualify for a trade card - expecting the old require proof, only trade etc scenario....... But no, he just said he'll sort one out, it's normally only for the trade, but as he is the manager it is at his discretion, so he issued it there and then, no id required, just filled out the form at the desk and signed the back of the card. On average 20% off all parts etc, but it depends what you buying. The discount doesn't apply to electrical and fancy trim stuff, bikes and accessories or polish, but everything else is up for grabs. Very helpful chap i'd say, it pays to ask! Al
  10. Hi there, Daft question, but here goes: As the title suggests, on the Rh supplied fuel tank, (Fiesta??), is the white connector the outlet, (red return)? Also, on the engine, there are two fuel lines on the injector system. One with a banjo fitting at the rear (scuttle) end. Is the inlet for connecting to the fuel filter? The other is at the front of the engine and has no connector, I take it this is the return? I think that I am correct, but any confirmation would be appreciated. Cheers Al
  11. Hi Robin, Thanks for the welder. Won't need the flaring tool as the fuel pipes are anodised jubilee clipped to flexis and I am popping into a local garage this week to get the front pipe connectors changed so that they will fit to the braided pipes I have. I'll PM you my contact details. Cheers Al Is everyone OK with a kick-off time of 10.30ish (or when you can make it), and have you all got my contact details? I can send out directions / map if required, let me know.

    Build Dvds

Like Richard telling the Rottweiler to go and savage someone?? Hahaha Al
  13. Hi All, Just fitted the Gaz shocks that I have had for three years to the rear, with some brackets I purchased from Dredd yonks ago. I have bolted these in place temporarily, (am waiting for some 8.8 grade stainless bolts from work, only have A2-70 at present), but i'm not really happy and confident with this. Would welded brackets be a better option, and if so does someone who is coming down next week have a portable welder they could bring if the general consensus is the same as my thoughts? The brackets are currently zinc plated, but I could grind this off in readiness for welding. Any thoughts? Cheers Al

    Woohoo Sva Pass

Nice one, good to see systems being fully utilised!! Al
  15. Cheers boys, pm's on way. Anyone else fancy bacon butties et al? Al
  16. Hi All, Just a reminder to see if you are still OK for the 1st June, (Gavin, Robin, Bob and Joe)? If so, brilliant, i'll PM you all with my contact details & address. Cheers Al PS Copper fuel line kit arrived from Tifosi. Haven't got round to the dummy scuttle, or remote filter fitting, but the Bank Holiday looms.......
  17. Yeah, but think of the benefits Mike!! Where is the nearest surplus store, or maybe i'll convert my Super spec halfway through its build to a Tornado?? Might have to extend the garage a little though!
  18. Thanks all, valid comments as usual. Certainly like the idea of not wasting cables!! Cheers Al
  19. Thanks Ian and Mike. Good idea to fit one then, so will do when the electrics are ready to install. Cheers Al
  20. Daft question, but is an isolator switch a requirement for SVA? If so, is there a poular or standard type? Long way from my electrics yet, but any info gladly absorbed. Cheers Al
  21. Thanks for the heads up Derek, hope you are all sorted now. Even though it'll be a little while before mine is on the road, think i'll take your advice and get few spares, just in case. Cheers Al
  22. Hi All, Update on the remote filter kits. Mike (Miikae) has worked some magic and come up with a kit on E-Bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:IT&ih=005s which works out at just under 74quid delivered. I have ordered one. Mike has confirmed that the thread size is the same on the T series as the K series (13/16th) through his sources. Alternative options are: Kit: RFK 1 Side Take Off Plate Pre-SDI kit Parts: TOPO1C 13/16 Male - sideports 27.99 RFH1C Filterhead L>R with 14mm T/O 18.06 You will also need hose which they can make up to the lengths you require. Both kit and parts from Think Automotive (0208 568 1172) www.thinkauto.com retails at around 87 quid plus the VAT and delivery. Thanks to Will, Matthew and Tony for their pointers, help and additional engine info and especially again to Mike for his help in finding the E-Bay kit and persevering in trying to get a deal from Think Auto. Cheers Al

  24. Hi John, The tube with the bleed nipple approx 20mm diameterish and 2ft longish is for the cooling system from the top oulet hose of the rad to the header tank across the top of the engine. Or it is on mine anyway!! All measurements very ish Cheers Al
