    Cam N Carb

Owen the diaphragm is the one for the acceleration pump, if you get a leak there it should mean less fuel getting into the manifold. If there is lots of fuel getting in I would check that the float needle valve is shutting off. I think your other problem may just be the tappets as Jim says. Peter
  2. Jest ye not, my local Autoglass used to cut screens to suit, I assume they still do. I had one for a Citroen Dyane cut and fitted while I waited. Peter
  3. Richard, if you have an S7 it will have wishbones anyway, is it an Exmo? with the flying buttresses and mini mcpherson struts? Some people have chopped these off and fitted wishbones I am sure somebody will be able to help on here, where abouts are you? Peter
  4. Steve try your local Halfords, they were selling off a lot of old stock at great prices £30 for the complete clutch set. cheap gasket sets too. If you have a Haynes manual it is not too difficult. Peter
  5. Mines pink! used to be red but has faded with age and use, so it must just be the gear knob then.
  6. Basically you will need 2 earths from the battery, one to block and one to chassis. connect the one you have from the 'block to engine mount box' as block to battery. This cable has to be the same size as the one going to the starter motor. It sounds as it should cure your problems, trying to pull 600 amps through dodgy contorted connections is usually not too successful. Peter

    Dgav Carb

5 turns is too much, it sounds as though you may have a blockage somewhere in the system. Clean it all out and try again, ford have used a variety of jet settings for the 32/36 DGAV with pintos since the cortina, but they should all work reasonably well with a standard tune engine. Peter

    Clutch Cable

If the rachet is working ok you may have to add some spacers to the outer cable, depending which cable you are using. The Mk 4 cortina is usually the best to use. Peter

    Sump Gasket

There were some good buys at Halfords, I got a complete clutch set for £29 and head gasket sets were under a tenner. Buy them while they last! Peter.
  10. Hi Ken, the camber seems a bit excessive, 1/2 to 1° -ve I would say, and setting up the toe in is fine initially at least with 'straight edges' just make them toe in slightly, equal to about 3mm at the front of the wheels. The important thing is to make sure the length of thread showing on the track rod ends are the same on both sides. I don't know what suspension you have but the castor angle needs to be about 3° to give decent self centering. Good luck! Peter

And this, sorry Alan I was playing with my new camera toy at marches meeting.

    Exmo V8?

Here is a picture of Alan Rowes Mk 1 S7. I hope he doesn't mind me showing this, I think it is only 3.9 though and has a type 9 box! contact him for details. Peter
  13. And another view (sorry it is not really parked upright!)
  14. Ian here is a picture of the strap arrangement on mine. Peter

    Efi To Carbs

Simon, ideally fit the early manifold, and a webber DGAV carb. The later manifold takes the more complicated? carbs that people seem to have problems with. You will need a pattern carb manifold gasket, it will just bolt on. You will need the earlier dizzy too, either the points one or preferably a hall effect one with the ignition module. Where abouts are you? Peter.
  16. I think the vinyl bits are to make 2 straps to hold the side screens shut. If I get time tomorrow I will try to take a pic unless someone else has one Peter
  17. Roger, assuming you have a 1.8 pinto and not a CVH the 2l or (2.1) pinto is just the same so it is a straight swap. Peter.
  18. Actually it is not bad, you should have bought some back and tried to give it away as presents. Peter.

    Steering Racks

Apart from his car has power steering I think you may find. Peter I meant Schumachers Ferrari has power steering!
  20. Not sure about Pierburg carbs but, the 2k idle is that with the throttle open or closed? If open the idle circuit is just about redundant so it would point to a blockage somewhere in the idle circuit. Is the timing about right? Peter
  21. Perhaps I was being too specific by saying they were Yellow, anything will do but might be messy or painful.
  22. I agree, just buy some of those yellow things to stick in your ears. Peter.
  23. I think Piddy has a nice 7 on his grill made from an electric cooker element if I remember correctly. Peter.

    Distributor

If you get desperate I have a Bosch points one. Peter
  25. I think that there are some Ford made alloy gearbox bell housings with lumps on both sides to take the starter motor for either configuration, I have seen them fitted to rally cars. Peter.
