  1. Very sad news. As others have said Ivan was a great supporter of club events, no matter how far away they were.

Condolences to his family and friends. Hopefully the new owner of his car will keep putting big miles on it.

  2. If it's essentially a stretched Beetle then the main focus of the IVA will be the extension and reinforcement of the floorpan. It needs to be fully seam welded anywhere it's been cut and jointed and some additional reinforcements to stop it bending in the middle.

If it's only got 4 seats and will only carry 4 people, then 4 seatbelt mountings shouldn't be difficult. If it's going to carry more than 4 people it'll get difficult. You'll need to demonstrate the extra seats and belts are mounted to an acceptable standard and also that the tyres, brakes and suspension are up to the additional weight. This will be difficult on an older build but not impossible.

It doesn't matter how clued up you are on IVA, you just need to convince the examiner on the day. It might be more cost effective to submit for IVA, address the fail points and then fix and retest. Pre-empting what the examiner might fail and paying someone to do work beforehand and finding it wasn't needed is pointless.

  3. To be honest, they should already be  familiar with what's needed for IVA. Getting someone else to compile a list of work is just adding to an already expensive job.

Modified beetle floorplans aren't very IVA friendly and you're likely to end up with a Q plate.

  4. If you know the person's forum username (which is what I put in the welcome post) and want to sent a message, click the 3 bar icon at top right of the screen. Click the envelope, click compose new, enter the user name. As you type, or if the name is valid, you'll see a list of users appear and you can click the one you want.

Add a subject, type you message and send it. The forum software will send the message to their inbox and send them an email notification that they have been contacted. No personal data is shared so it's compliant.

If they don't want to be contacted, they can just ignore the message.

Filipes H…. Aintree not far from myself,  Richy could you please try and get us in contact, same with some of the other new members you’ve posted over the last few months

Can you just send him a message directly, now I'm off the Committee (as of yesterday's AGM), I'm trying to take a bit of a step backwards.

  6. Hi Simon,

good to have you back on board and hear you're getting better. I've literally just put your membership pack in it's envelope. It'll be one of the last few I do as I stepped down from the membership role at the AGM yesterday but I'm having you back and reading you post have made doing it a little bit special.
