    Newark 2010

Looking forward to it. Planning to come on Saturday and camp overnight for the 1st time. The Old man is also planning on bringing his Westie along again. Heres praying for some dry Sunny weather!
  5. Nice one Dan, Might be able to keep up with me now...lol See you at the meet tonight
  6. Yes well pleased. Got the time on the 3rd run. Times went down hill from there on as I was trying too hard! On the best run I got, Reation time of 0.745 sec, Qtr mile in 15.01sec, Speed of 91mph. Guess the rolling road session I had a few weeks back has paid off. Not bad on a 2.0litre Pinto with FR31 cam, lightened flywheel, vernier pulley and 38 Dgas webers.
  7. OOops!! 15.01 Seconds...Just felt longer
  8. Hi, Got chatting to a mate over a few beers on Sat night and was told that York race way were having a race what you bring day on Sunday (Yesterday). Thought I'd give it a shot...(amazin how beer makes you brave...) Cracking day...apart from a few light showers, sun shone most of the day and some pretty awsome cars. Suprisingly mine was the only kit there. Managed 5 runs down the track (1st time ever) and got a best time of 1min 15.06 sec which I pretty pleased with. Managed to blow away 2 MR2's, a Honda S2000 (that one was pretty close though!!) and Nissan 100sx (this was down to luck as he fluffed the start). Last run was again aganst the Nissan again who I later found out had twin turbo's fitted to his 1.8 pushing out 300+bhp, god that thing was quick. Still didn't disgrace myself and the Old gal made a good showing of her self. Finished mid table on the times in our class of car. Still grinning now... What sort of time has anyone else managed on a standing qtr mile??
  9. No Problems Andy. I'll stick it in the boot. Just remind me....
  10. On the ball this month Andy... Definately try to make it this month, so see you all there.

    Talktalk

Don't even get me started on Talk Talk.... When they 1st did the Broadband offer I thought...sounds good, so signed up. Waited and waited. Given excuse after excuse, was made promise after promise, 3 mths went by, 6 mths passed, all the time they were charging me for the pleasure. After 10 mths, got BBC watchdog involved. Spent over 140hrs in call waiting, getting cut off and occasionally talking to help lines and call centres (got on 1st name terms with a lass in Johanesburg!!) Eventually got the kit sent through after 11 mths 16 days. Then took another 6 weeks to get connected (after leaving me with no phone connection for 3 days!!!!) In all took over 140hrs on the phone, 16 letters and the threat of legal action. Now suffering intermittent connections and slow speeds....now in the process of changing again.... STAY CLEAR OF TALK TALK!
  14. As Mower man says, MK engineering. Contact Martin. Did a really good job on mine just before Stoneleigh, repackable. Sounds great with out the ear damage...
  15. Yes, It was a really good show. Started off with a small shower, but ended up a fantastic sunny day. Loads of cars, a few Nobles,Ferrari 360, Lambo, Atom, TVR's en mass, etc etc Our car's looked well (mines 2nd from left). Not as many hoodies as we were expecting, but not a bad turnout. Will definately go again. Newby Hall is a beautiful setting.
  16. Hi, Yes totally agree with the others. I ended up using a 30mm long spacer (if memory serves me correct). I have attached a piccie showing the finished assembly. Couple of other pointers to look out for when you are assembling: 1/ Make sure that you have grease nipples put into the sliding part which you can access easily when assembled. 2/ Make new spacers to fit on the top bearings to spread any loads. Supplied spcaers/ instructions are basically a bit of tube which is too thin and will eventually crack the top bearing 3/ Strengthen the wing brackets. Read on here that they crack and ignored the advice. 1st one went after 500 miles. Simply weld two triangular fillets to the flat plate where the main sliding pillar fits. 4/ Cut off the stud at the end of the sliding pillar shaft. Drill out and fit a M10 stud. Much stronger, as there has been reported instances of the old stud snapping off. I'm sure I've probably missed off something, but will add when I remember. Hope this helps...good luck! As others have said wish bones is the way to go, one of the jobs I have planned, but pockets aint deep enough yet!
  17. Hi, Had to do a few bits on mine when building as I had a real nasty scratch on the rear wheel arch and side of the bonnet. I purchased a polishing kit from The polishing shop THE POLISHING SHOPfor about £18. Been worth every penny. Managed to do a pretty good job of getting rid of the scratch's, I have also managed to polish the roll cage, alternator etc etc. Definately would recommend
  18. With the filter at the bottom right of the page. Can't see it there now though..?
  19. Hi Mat, On a similar note, How do you view older posts? On the old forum you could choose from todays, this week etc, can seem to do this on the new one which makes finding older posts a bit of a pain... Rest of the site is bang on
  20. Hi Jamie, Sorry to hear you had problems with the car, you missed what turned out to be a cracking day. Small shower when we got there but sun came out at Midday. Beautiful settings with loads of Supercars on show (the Nobles being my personal favourites). 7 hoods turned up so managed to meet some new and familiar faces. Had a cracking run back by having a bit of fun on some great B roads in S Yorks (yep, managed to find a few miles with no pot holes...!)Still smiling now . First chance I've had to really push the car since the rolling road session 2 weeks ago.
  21. Got my ticket, so see you all there!

    Performance

Just had mine rolling roaded and made a hell of a difference (30% increase in power). Started with 89 BHP to rear wheels now have 118bhp. 2.0l pinto FR31 fast cam, lightened flywheel, skimmed head, ported on 38DGAS. Will easily rev to 6000rpm. Top speed is around 110, but damn quick from 0-70mph. From what you have said about not going above 4000rpm, I'd definately be looking at getting the timing/ Carbs/ engine set up checked.
  23. Hi, I posted a week or so on this. Photo's of mine from MK attached. I have now polished it up so looks the biz. Sounds great too, as Mower man says.
  24. Hi, Just managed to download a few photo's taken at the weekend. If they are a bit fuzzy it's cause I was shiverin so much......! Looks like Phil is a bit smitten with Mrs VBH, Nick looks to be really enjoying his cuppa.... Shame about the weather, but 1st time out with the Club overnight. Really good to put faces to names and meet you all. Can't wait for Newark now.
