  1. Hi Colin, I have tried to put together an instruction for how to set the camber, which if I recall correctly is the main issue you are having with your excessive tyre wear. Hopefully pretty straight forward, if not PM me and I'll try to confuse you further.... The adjustments on the track rod ends are for Toe in/ out as Dave mentions. this also needs to be correct (this is the parts that the garage can do for you to ensure that at leaste the front tres are both running parrallel. Hope the info is okay.
  2. H Colin, Glad to see you are more or less back up and running... I had a similar issue when I took it to get tracking done. You have probably got a similar issue with mine that there is an offset on the rear wheels (one side is approx 1/2" Out to the other, a common issue I seem to recall). All the garage could really do was to ensure that the front wheels were both parrallel and straight, could'nt get a perfect alignment due to the rear offests. Seems to be running fine though with no real signs of tyre scuffing or uneven wear and handling fine (for a sliding pillar!!) Good luck mate, hope to see you about soon.
  3. Definately the above. Nearly fell off my chair when he quoted £75 Fully comp, parts only (I would end up doing repair myself anyway!)
  4. Just seen that there is a car show at Rippon race course on 26th July. Seems they have a few kit cars and autojumble there. Is anyone else interested in going?
  5. Hi Brian, Fitted my manual choke knob on top right hand corner net to steering wheel. Easy to get to and adjust when driving, and doesn't get in the way.
  6. Hi, Been reading that the latest mag has been sent over a week ago. Still not seen my copy? Anyone else not had their issue yet? Our posties aren't the quickest at best of times, but would have thought I should have seen it by now?
  7. Hi Keith, I also have the 38DGAS fitted and suffered similar issues. Worth checking you have no air leaks around the Carbs where it could be sucking in air. I found that even with correct jets the carbs overjet (too much fuel). Only way I could get to run well was to play with the mixture (running very lean)...
  8. Okay, Have mangaged to upgrade my account. Bit confused why as up until recently was showing as Rhocar member....any ideas any one??? Also still does not answer why I'm not getting club info sent through??
  9. Ha Ha...very funny Can someone please explain why I am no longer being shown as a member and why I am not getting club info..... Definately a paid up member...got my red sticker thingy and everything! Does this mean I get a refund?
  10. Hi Bob yes been a member for 2 years.....membership No 000186 (I think...) Got the red membership card etc start of the year. Just noticed the fact I'm just a community member on this site.....what's happening here? Cheers Terry
  11. When did these get posted as I have not seen a copy yet (only got 1 issue last year as well....)?
  12. Hi, If you have a relay already wired in for the ignition to the starter motor, then you should not need a seperate relay to the starter switch, just tap into the current ignition switch wiring...and hey presto! Mine has been fine for the past few months without any issues.
  13. Hi Colin, I changed mine over to Gaz coil overs some months back. The brackets were pretty easy to fit. Hopefully the photo's show you what you need to know.
  14. Hi Carl, Remeber me.... I have the Capri clocks fitted. However the Capri cluster did not fit (about 10mm to wide) so cut them down instead. Just given away the spare oil connector I had, but search on ebay for escort or Capri oil pipe and you should find one around a fiver (found this one on ebay @0.99p...) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CAPRI-2-8-INJECTION-...alenotsupported Speedo should run the same as the Sierra one as I had no difficulties...that said my Sierra speedo wasn't that good either. Any problem with the wiring let me know.
  15. quote name='ibrooks' date='Jul 1 2009, 08:46 AM' post='183455'] Any chance it was item number 250448671971? If so then it does specify that the chassis is a one-off so it might be a home-made one which would be OK from an identity point of view but he'll have to watch it very carefully for stress fractures. There were some horror stories about the normal mild steel chassis cracking not too long ago and stainless is only ever going to be more susceptible to this sort of thing. If it's a stainless copy of the original chassis then I'd be wary. Iain Hi Iain, Thanks for the input into the stainless chassis worries. Got my father to check all details raised. Yes you are correct it was that one advertised. The chassis was manufactured by Westfield and has been tested/ strengthened in known stress areas. .All bills and correspondance tally. The rest of the car is also looking very legit as my father has spoken to Westfield and confirmed the car's pedigree. There are a few small jobs left to do, however for a little over 5K hopefully looks like he has dropped on a bargain. The old man's been around the block once or twice when it comes to car's so did'nt think he would miss anything, never harms to check though... A few photo's below of the car
  16. Hi Mitch, Yes it does have a stainless chassis and suspension. Car is 15 years old but has recently totally been rebuilt, including a special stainless chassis. The guy had spent approx £10K on the rebuild over the past 18 months (engine has only done 30 miles). Car was owned by the original owner who has had to sell due to ill health. Car seems totally genuine and is in mint condition. Guess the old man has got a real "bargain". Will try and post a few photo's soon. Andy, If he does come to one of our meets it will be a long drive (he lives near Southampton). He surpised me on this one, so you never know.....
  17. Got into big trouble with my mother yesterday. Took my father to a local car show on Sunday. He loved the car and really admired the handling, left him with the grin factor...Him being a major bike nut and fast and in his later 60's. He made the remark later that day that he would love a kit car but would have a V8 in it. That night I found one on ebay to show him they do exist. Got home from work yesterday to find out he was on his way to Brighton (300 mile drive!!) to look at the Westie with a V8 I showed him. Phone call last night to confirm he had bought. A steal at £5K (Westie with new stainless chassis, stainless suspension, new body, new rebuilt 3.5L V8). Trying to get him to become a hoodie now! Guess I'll be off my mum's Xmas card list for a few years...
  18. If weathers fine will try and make it, if not will see you next time?
  19. Cheers Lad's Another year younger!! Popping out for a meal and a few beers tonight. Hope to see you at the next meet...when is it.....ahhhh dementia's creeping up on me already!!!!
  20. Been to the Sheffield festival of transport show today, first time I had been. Started off a bit damp as it was raining when I set off, but after a few miles dried up. Turned out to be a bit of a scorcher! Arrived at the Show with Carl (red 2B is Carl's, Black trim one is mine!), a fellow Hoodie. Approx 8 kit cars on display, 3 of which were Hoods, 2x 2B's 1XZero. Must say that our cars got a great reception and had loads of people interested. Fantastic display of motors across all era's and mark's. Would be really good if we could maybe have a club stand/ attendance next year??? Heres a few pic's to give a flavour of the day.......
  21. No Problems Colin, As I offered before, if you need a hand or a comparison of sliding pillar set up. let me know.

    Dash Or Clocks

Hi, I used a set of Capri clocks and mounted them onto a stainless facia (see photo below). Clocks only set me back £10. Had to split the clocks but really easy to fit/ rewire. Don't look too bad for a tenner.....!
  23. Carl, Fancy meeting up again? same place as last week? What time ?
  24. Hi Colin, If you are stuck, you are more than welcome to come up and have another look at my set up and have a drive to compare. Together I'm sure we could sort it out, as between us we must have had these buggers off a dozen times...
