  1. ..or you could buy the one for sale here... http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=41038
  2. Two things to consider (sure that there are more) but remember that you should have a mechanical advance from the bob weights in the normal distributor, so that as engine speed increases so does the advance. Secondly when you put your foot down, the vacuum at the manifold drops so that the vacuum advance does nothing, it comes into play at idle or at low loads/over run, so the main effect is in smoother idle and fuel economy (or so I'm told!)
  3. Not the same symptoms but there was an earlier post about steering/suspension etc with lots of replies. Maybe worth a read! http://www.rhocar.or...l=handling&st=0
  4. My eldest son bought a 205GTi with one of their manifolds and it split on a weld. They were extremely helpful and repaired the manifold at no cost even though he hadn't bought it from them originally. So top marks for customer service!
  5. Just spoken to Mike at UK Sports eyewear and he's extended an old 20% discount code to the end of this month (Sept). So if anyone was thinking of buying..... Code is skcc2014. (no link just a satisfied customer) Malcolm
  6. Although I haven't done it on mine so this isn't a criticism (I've just got the pump wired directly on a ignition circuit), I'm told that the best way is to wire through a pressure switch so that should there be an accident and the engine stalls fuel flow will stop to minimise the risk of fire. (oh and happy birthday Mowerman....)

  9. It's an inspiration for me to get out in the garage and sort out all those things that I intend to do someday..... Thanks for posting the link. Malcolm
  10. I was worried about the same question a couple of years ago when I had to replace tyres on 'tubed' type rims. My local tyre dealer's opinion was that it depended upon the brand of tubeless tyre as some are more ribbed on the inside than others. In the end we chose Firestone because although they were not perfectly smooth, they were better than some of the others. Two years use and no problems yet. (I also made sure that the tubes were a decent brand, think that they were michelin....) I'm certainly not an expert and tyres aren't an area to take risks with, but I trust my local dealer and accepted his advice. Malcolm

    White Smoke

Hasn't got a brake servo has he? If the white smoke that you saw was smoke and not steam could be a leaking servo with brake fluid being drawn into the engine. Had it on an MG, didn't notice any brake inefficiency, but the fluid went down.
  15. No one seems to mention the exhaust exit, are they on opposite sides from one another on the Zetec and Duratec? Is the Duratec opposite from Pinto but Zetec the same? (or are they both opposite?). That would be a big part of my decision if I were to swop from the Pinto. thanks Malcolm

    Selling Advice

When I sold a car last year I took a cheque and agreed that the car could be collected one week later to allow for clearance of the cheque. Put the cheque through on express clearance.... bad idea because his bank claimed not to have received the cheque, despite my bank saying that someone had signed for it! Ordinary clearance isn't much better either, they can still come back unpaid after more than 3 days because the banks still rely on royal mail to send back an unpaid cheque. In the end he brought cash but I was sweating until I had banked it. So when I went to buy a car last month, I went on a weekday, arranged with the local branch of my bank for withdrawal of the cash, took the seller with me when I withdrew the cash and went staight to his bank to pay it in. Then I drove the car home! So apart from saying cash to the bank (or bank transfer), take care! Malcolm
  17. I've used Morris's oils for some time now, I buy from a local wholesaler in either 25l drums or 4*5l packs. Don't know of suppliers in your area, but another reason that I like them is that they are very helpful on the phone, so it may be worth ringing them. By the way I also find a 25L drum difficult to use without a pump! Malcolm

Hello John, Don't want to look like a showoff, but arn't your back wheels on the wrong sides! I thought that the 'arrows' were supposed to point forwards (look at the red tractor). Don't ask me how I know, (but mine were the same way on as yours, until some smart alec told me!) Malcolm
