  1. Had the same problem on my 2B - fitted a small jap alternator as above but beware as some need an extra switched +12V from the ignition circuit. Easy enough to do - but a pain if you've already got your loom sorted out. Steve
  2. As I understand it, there are loads of things that affect the actual pressure you get, but as long as all 4 cylinders are pretty much the same as one another there's nowt to worry about !

    Pedal Bushes

Fitted the bushes yesterday - they're made of a softer material than the originals but fitted fine. They seem to work OK but how long they'll last remains to be seen! Anyway there's no more clicking from the brake pedal ................... at least for the time being.

    Pedal Bushes

Received the ones from Flo-flex today & they look OK - I'll try fitting 'em this weekend & let you know how I get on.

    Pedal Bushes

My local Ford dealer has never been over keen to look up older parts but I'll give him a go next weekend. Meanwhile I've just found that Flo-flex list some for early escorts that look the same & they're £6.93 for a set of 4 so I might give them a try. At that price it's not the end of the world if they don't fit.

    Pedal Bushes

The plastic "top hat" plastic bushes between my brake pedal & pivot shaft have split (a few laps of Barkston Heath may have had something to do with it). It's the original pedal box from the Sierra so they've lasted 20 odd years, but now I'm getting a clicking from the brake pedal. Does anyone know where I can get new ones from ? I'd like to replace both clutch & brake while I'm at it, so if anyone knows where I can get 4 from I'd be very grateful. Thanks chaps, Steve
  7. Any updates on the passenger paperwork John ? Steve
  8. Hi John, What about passengers? I think we had a separate form for them to fill in last year - I might be wrong, my memory's not what it was !!! Steve
  9. Hi Jase, Add me to this list please, see about 9:30 Steve
  10. Got my pass today thanks - definitely be there on Sunday and hopefully Saturday too, if plans work out.
  11. So sorry John - I haven't been watching this post & I've only just realised I should have paid by now. I've just posted the cheque, hopefully you'll get it by Thursday. Grovelling apologies again, Steve

    Twilight Zone Cooling

Had a similar problem with mine when something got stuck in the pressure cap & stopped it from holding any pressure at all - as soon as the engine warmed up it chucked about half a pint of coolant on the floor. 1 new cap & everything was back to normal. Can you check if the system is getting pressurised or not ? Try squeezing the top hose as it warms up. HTH Steve

    Dutton/robin Hood?

Amazingly I did get a reply to my question of why does it say Dutton on the V5, & I quote - "I have no idea I'm afraid. My brother bought the car and I am just listing it on his behalf." Not surprisingly the question didn't get listed on the advert. More worrying, some poor soul paid nearly £3k for it.

    Dutton/robin Hood?

I've just asked the Locost seller why it says Dutton on the log book - I'll let you know if I get a reply (don't hold your breath).
  15. Hi Jase, Put me down please - F543GNT 2 peeps Cheers, Steve
  16. Aren't you camping on the beach ?? All being well we'll be there, but we might meet you at the Ponderosa. I'll let you know beforehand, Steve
  17. Found it !!!! One 13" wheel, 4 x 100mm stud pattern, not sure what width, but originally had a 165 tyre on it which I pinched for my trailer. Yours for nowt if you want to collect it.
  18. Hi Richard, I think I might have one buried in the garage somewhere - i'll have a rummage round tomorrow night & let you know. Steve

    Newark Show

All being well we should be there on the Sunday - can't make it before that unfortunately. Steve
  20. Hi Richard, I particularly wanted to keep the width of my trailer down to as narrow as possible which is why I went for that size chassis and the up & over design, otherwise I would have done something similar to yourself - looking good by the way. Hi utuber - I agree it would have been easier with a flat bed but where's the fun in that ? Once the car is on it actually sits very nicely, and doesn't tend to roll off the back if you don't put the handbrake on !! I don't think I would have fancied the nose that far in the air either, I'm thinking it might have made a good air brake.
  21. Apologies for my less than quick response but it's been one of those weeks followed by one of those weekends. I didn't get chance to drop my trailer onto it's wheels for photos, but I've managed to find some frames from a video at Barkston Heath last year. Sorry but the picture qualty isn't brilliant, but then neither is the trailer !! They might give you an idea of what mine's like - you can see how the car goes over the trailer wheels, and how the belly of the car drops between then tracks when it's fully on. A couple of things you might find useful - 1) the ramps on mine are 6ft long. 2) check the rating of your tyres - they need to be able to carry the weight of car & trailer plus a bit for safety. Normal car tyres won't carry anywhere near enough. Hope this help !! Good luck, Steve
  22. Still looking for the pictures of mine - how hard can it be to find an SD card ??? I'll keep searching, they're here somewhere !! If all else fails I'll drop it back on to it's wheels & take some more, but I won't be able to do that until next weekend at the earliest. I used 40x40x6 angle to make the extra bits on mine - that box section you've got should be more than up to the job. If you need any dimensions off mine just yell, measuring it is no problem. Steve
  23. I built a trailer for my 2B from a single axle caravan chassis - it's hardly any wider than the 2B (which is what I wanted), but means you have to go up & over the wheels. It took a bit of thinking about & you do have to get the 2B in just the right place, but it only weighs about 200kg and tows very well. It's standing on it's side, leaning against the garage wall at the moment, but I think I've got some photos somewhere - if you're interested let me know & I'll try to find 'em. Steve
