    Postie's Just Been

mines here too, postie had to knock on the door as the lid on the post box has frozen shut
  2. If you catch it before it sets it says peanut oil should be used, just read a can in the garage. Think it may have set by now though
  3. I really want to get to one of these meets but don't think I'll risk this one, tintops playing up and I've got a trip to worksop on saturday. Can you let me know a postcode so I can get a fix on where it is. Regards, Jamie

    Snowy Run Out

I see your bad car and trump it with a picasso, its terrible ABS kicks in and it refuses to stop crawl upto a corner and it starts to turn it then just kicks the arse out for no reason. and my feet are freezing! the hoods much better for keeping your toes/ legs toastie

    Vented Discs

sometimes easier to see the difference: solid disc vented disc ebc turbo grooved disc I swoped from solid discs on my MGZR105 to ebc turbo grooved discs from an MGZS180 after extensive engine mods but I had to change the callipers to rover 620 turbo jobbies and file 1mm off each of the inner faces of the callipers to maintain the clearances. Basically check the gap inside the callipers to see if you can fit them. edit: just re-read, turbo groove from vented is a straight swap. the EBC part finder comes back as vented as std on 2.0l sierra front
  6. used to have that problem with the MGZS180, was a real pain to keep cleaning the pipes as the first time it killed the sensor.
  7. thanks for that, just ordered them. went to ford today and got asked for reg plate! "can't find anything on this system without a reg plate" tried the original sierra plate then as last resort the hood (knew it wouldn't work but guy thought it might) then got bored. ebays easier. Whats the special tool I require, was going to gently prise out as instructed by haynes, then swear lots and maybe kick something
  8. Are these the right ones, link to ebay seals is this a good price? seems abit steep to me. Just found out a new ford dealer has opened near work so will go and see them in morning before clicking buy! Anybody any wiser on the handbrake cable, Being the exmo its pretty much all sierra underneath at the back and the cable seems to go to original brackets so i'm supprised its so close to the shaft. I'm guessing the outer sleeves are too long but can they be cut down?
  9. LOL don't think i'll risk that one, just opened a bottle of oil, without doing anything else and I'm some how covered in the stuff, think it must have been on the bottom I'd probably have the boot fall off long before I managed to prise the shaft off my fingers.
  10. thanks for that Martin, I'd missed the fact it came with the grease.
  11. Right long story short, decided to service the hood and top up gearbox and diff etc, after running back and forth to Halfords replacing incorrect plugs/ leads just about everything the computer said was for a sierra etc. I then discovered I had no hex drive big enough for the gearbox or diff plug also discovered this: The handbrake cable has rubbed through the drive shaft boot and the diff looks like its leaking too. So my questions for today are:- 1. what size hex do I need for the drain plugs, looks a tad over 3/8" but not quite 10mm, I can only find 10mm for fords is this right? 2. are these flexi-boots the one I need ebay link to item 170424348873 3. I presume I'll need new grease, can't find Duckhams LBM10 what is an alternative? 4. wheres the best place to get a new diff seal from, will ford still have them as spares? <insert bent over smiley> 5. Is that handbrake cable too long as the Haynes photo shows it well ahead of the drive shaft and can it be shortened? Thats all for today....promise! Your help is greatly appreciated.
  12. Happy new year to all, I've finally worked some time to change the oil in the hood, should have done it sooner as the engine was rebuilt probably more then 500miles ago.(speedo doesn't work) My question is do I need to use the engine flush stuff every time? reading the can in halfords as says to pour into warm engine then run at 2000rpm for 15min seems abit excessive? not sure the naighbours will be to happy either. what do you do? Regards, Jamiep
  13. Mines broken down well the battery flap keeps falling of as the screw which holds it has pulled out, now held on with leccy tape
  14. Presuming being an Exmo it is pre-sva etc like mine, I changed from the protex standard to a protex safety with hole for extra pin. protex 27-19 you can get them from cbs too linky here hth Jay

    Dash Rebuild

Could be the cold, digital cameras don't like cold weather (mine doesn't anyway ) How do you fix the pipng around the dash?
  18. mines yellow......I've perfected the doughnut round the cat trick, but then got kicked out the kitchen because apparently 'she needs to cook dinner'
  19. I got full cover with my insurance through Adrian flux, had to get recoverd back from stafford after the show, was very quick to respond and new alot about hoods, (the guy had built 3) as aposed to AA who I pay more to cover wife (personal cover, any car) spent 3 hours back and forth before towing me 30miles @ 30mph (dsg auto box) down a duel carraige way before fixing a dead coil on my Audi.

    Dash Rebuild

Looks good, its given me a push to look at mine. Quick question, is the steel panel behind the dash structural? I only ask as mine only has the cut out for the sierra clocks so I would need to make a few more for extra gauges. I don't think it is as it is light gauge with no folds to stiffen but I just wanted to check.
  21. doing 5mph and running on tickover, turned into our road and went straight on I realised I wasnt going to make it, so straightend the wheels and went straight on up the curb and over the other side as if it wasnt there Really glad the council decided to relandscape that bit a couple of weeks ago as there used to be a steel knee high barrier around it, just wish they would grit the roads round here as its deadly.
  22. If the the 3a is same as Exmo (looks same tub with dif. front setup) you will need to look for seats which are 400mm or less wide, I recall seeing a sketch with the dimensions when searching myself which i confirmed at home. Intertrim do some nice (but expensive) seats seat range you can get them through europa spares abit cheaper via the site sponsor link on the forum home page. or kitparts direct (again site sponsor) also do seats alot cheaper but in my opinion not as comfy when tested at a show. HTH Jamie
  23. try contacting PTP ltd, they are performance engine builders who used to do the batches for powertrain (rover engine department) Its a while since I've dealt with them but they know their stuff. they now deal with Mazda engines but still do rover stuff. click the link below for contact details. PTP Ltd
  24. Lol, no offence to anybody but i didn't read that link before clicking and just spat coffee all over my laptop....
  25. Hi everyone, Can someone please advise me as to the best way to wire the fiesta heater control valve to allow me to turn it on and off via a button on the dash. I know its only 2 connectors but I don't want to blow it up Being only 2 I presume its +/- but does it need constant supply to be on/off or will I need some sort of timed power to move from one position to the other and then turn off. over to you.......
