  2. I'm after an original Sierra heater fan or one which is no bigger but will use existing 3 speed wiring. If anybody has one there are beer tokens waiting Regards, Jamiep

    Hmrc Scam

I had a similar email about tax credits saying to fill in the attached PDF, it was very convincing other then I knew it was suss due to the PDF.html attachment and they never used my real name on the email. Did make me wonder where they got some of the info from though, did they ever find the lost tax CD's from last year?
  4. would you believe it, spent ages looking for that stuff locally before i bought it from CBS, their litrally round the corner from me.....
  5. I found that channel during the week, have gone through the week setting just about everything to record. Had to laugh at American hot rod though, setting up a chassis 'precisely' with a spirit level in one hand and tape in the other.
  6. I love F1, this season has been great and I think the BBC has done a briliant job of getting around the teams that count, not just the ones that want advertising! Silverstone this year was imense, so many people and a great buzz. just a shame it took over 3 hrs to get out. I really hope we have a British GP next year.

    Going To Court

Happened to me a few years back, left my car in a carpark for 30 mins when I came back the front was about 2 foot out to one side and all smashed up. Witness gave me all the details but wouldn't give their name or address. Police rang a few weeks later saying it was a company car from down south which had not been booked out and now had no damage so no proof and no case. If the witness had given name police said they could have shown some photos of distinctive features but ha-ho. Good on you, make that guy have some responsibility for his actions.
  8. Looks good, all you need now is some sun! I'm thinking of fitting a light under my roll bar as its very dark in mine and I keep loosing things in the footwells.
  9. I'm putting a bag of sand in the back to try and keep traction Seriously though, I would like to rewire mine as some of it is shocking (excuse the pun) I would also like to move the rad into the nose and replumb to create room for expansion tank and electric fan, then maybe a new dash layout.
  10. If the S7 version is similar to the Exmo then you will have to tweek the bars to make them follow the line of the rear body, I found the ally bent easily using my knee, remember though do it a little at a time and keep checking. Also check the length of the bars before taping together and drilling the pivot between large and small hoops, I forgot to check mine which means its a little off square when the roof is on. My 'L' shaped brackets mount inside the large hoop about 1/2" along the tube and then mounted where they landed on the inner wing part that the roll bar goes through. When the roof is up the small hoop is inline above the roll bar (or would be if I had done it straight) and attached to the inside of the roof using the velcro wrap-a-round bit and the bigger hoop sits just behind my head, I tension mine with luggage straps from roll bar to front hoop as I found the vinyl ones supplied streached too much when warn and made the roof look saggy. Hope this is usefull, I can take some photos if you want more info. P.s. My roof etc had 2B written on it so I presume there all the same?
  11. I had thought of one of those solar panels but the car is in a garage and the garage is under trees, plus the QA says it is not for outdoor use? might keep the car on the road anyway now I have the roof fitted as its not far to work and back and I'm trying to sell my audi. I've currently have a black & decker BDV030 battery booster but its a bit pointless as it takes 15hrs to recharge after one use! glad I never bought it. I might put the 3600 on mt xmas list
  12. This might be a daft question but will this CTEK XS800 Battery Maintenance Charger work with my Battery It says it will charge batterys upto 32Ah but mine is 44Ah will this just mean it will take longer to charge or will it get damaged? CTEK Multi XS3600 Battery Charger is the next one up that halfords sell but it seems over rated and cost is going up. Also is a calcium battery still lead-acid? Don't want to kill my battery over winter whilst its laid up. Thanks. Jamiep.

  14. After years of working with stainless steel I would think getting a mirror finish back on a formed panel will be pretty much impossible, we used to spend hours regraining to a 2B (grade of finish not the car) finish on fabrications.
  15. could also be a jammed/stiff or broken plastic connector from the servo. I had this on a different make car, was a real pain to hook back together up inside the door skin.

    Rotor Arm Melted

I don't know anything about these, so forgive the stupid questions but, would this cause some scoring on the inside of the cap? i noticed some fresh marks but assumed it was caused after the melting arm. also should i be able to move the arm by hand, rotates maybe 5deg then springs back? what sort of cost is involved/ where would do recon dizzys?

    Rotor Arm Melted

On the way to Stafford on Saturday the car started to splutter whilst doing about 70...ish, stopped at services for about 30mins with the bonnet off as i thought it was over heating (no temp gauge) had a coffee etc and set off again but a bit slower around 60mph (gps) and got to the show no probs, if a bit later then planned. On the way home we were stop start in traffic for a few miles and it all started again with miss fires and loss of power, after pulling to the services I didn't think the engine was that hot but left it to cool for an hour whilst we had some food and again set off. Didn't get too far before it started again, every time I tried to accelerate it would pop and bang and loose power, then started cutting out. Anyway ended up in a pub carpark just off A1(M) N dead as a dodo waiting for recovery. A quick look by the very knowledgeable recovery guy (and builder of at least 3 hoods plus other kits) went straight to the problem, the rotor arm was burnt away. My question (eventually) is what would cause this? the cap looks very clean and newish (cars done less then 1k miles in approx 4 yrs) the points are spotless and the leads and plugs look new too. is the timing out? the cars ran fine this summer since i've had it. thanks in advance, Jay

    Stafford Show

Hello, As a new member this year it has been a steep learning curve, I have a terrible memory when it comes to names and faces (although I recognized the grey pointer) and because of that I'm never sure who I'm talking too. Around the gazebo was very busy on Saturday and I didn’t manage to speak to anybody in it but that’s down to me, I don't like interrupting over peoples conversations. I did speak to a few guys (again I've forgotten names) one had just bought new bike carbs. who I found friendly and chatty. I think the club stand is the best there and as such it can be a bit daunting trying to speak to people. The name badge Ideal i think would help along with maybe an A4 list with little mug shots (abit like motor sport grid line ups) pinned to the gazebo. Just my thoughts Jay

    Just My Luck.....

oops knew there was something i had forgotten.
  23. Set off to meet the wife for lunch today and the hood ran really lumpy for a while, when warm it felt down on power and the battery light flickered a few times. Just as I pulled into my street there was a rattle that sounded like the exhaust heat shield was falling off. Had a quick look and spotted the alternator bracket hanging off and black soot around it, first thought was oh, the nuts come off......and yes it had, taking the exhaust manifold stud with it flush to the engine block! After kicking things round the garage and a small amount of swearing I decided to try and drill it out and extract the stud.....It worked only had about 20 deg angle due to the size of drill etc but took it slow and started to unscrew with stud extractor, I think doing it while the engine was still hot helped although I did burn my hand in the excitement reaching in to pick the stud up Think I'll go buy a lottery ticket
  24. Thanks for the info I'll look out for one of those, I knew somebody on here would know!
