  1. No, your mistaken.........white vans dont even need a gap! On a serious note, i cant believe there isnt a camera either at the junction or either side that they could check if they were bothered. It has really started to get my back up the way people just dont care about car damage nowadays. 'your insurance will pick it up' seems to be the rule. rant over!
  2. The hood does seem to srink quite alot when cold. I left mine fitted in the garage this winter, good job too as the puddle on top suggests I have a leek in the garage roof
  3. I'm looking at getting new seats as the plywood things I have are knackered and basically rubbish. after taking out the old seat I have found why my belts never seem comfy either, there is some sort of reinforcing box in the corner at the point the side meets floor and rear wall. can anyone tell me if this is a standard feature. how did people overcome this and position the belt mountings inline, idealy somewhere close to current iva regs.
  4. which Ka m/c do people use, there's a few on eBay with a smaller servos for little money but some have 2 outlets others have 3. should it be one each left/ right front and then 1 to rear an then tee off? does model of Ka have much effect and is there one to avoid. thanks.

    Would It Work

I've been having the same thoughts since a guy down my street put one up for sale for ~£1k don't know the dimensions nor can i remember the last time i saw a sierra in the flesh but think they might be a bit wider then an mx5. There are plenty mazdas about I'm supprised more people dont use them as base cars.
  6. I too like to leave a gap but on occasion after sitting at the end of our road for ages, i admit i have used the 260 ponies under my right foot to steal someone else’s gap. I have to turn right and go east bound in a morning on the duel carriage way when every body else in Hull seams to want to go west, it can get quite frustrating that nobody lets me out.

    Parrot Mki9200

thanks for replies, will be getting one in near future although I now need a bonnet resprayed so the budgets been nicked
  8. Hi, does anybody use a Parrot MKI9200 in their tintop? I'm looking to replace a nokia car kit that came with the car and have been advised by local company to get one of these. There seems to be mixed reviews on tinterweb but they are quite old and bugs seem to relate to iPhone os3x where as I'm on 4.2 (iPhone 4) local firms are quoting ~£300 fitted although I can get from halfords for £170 I think I need a special cable for the Bose stereo in the MPS6 which could be £70 !! to fit myself. anything I should consider that you think is better, or things I should avoid, please let me know. thanks. Jay.
  9. All my tintop speedos have read over on the clock compared to gps, my MGZR was the worst after adding 17" wheels as optional extra from new. guess they didn't bother that the speedo was wrong aslong as its faster then your travelling you wont get flashed. My Exmo on the other hand reads 30 when I do 40 which is a different matter, I rely on my GPS!
  10. Drove mine right through last winter, at least your never cold with the hood up as there is so much heat coming from the engine bay. I found myself grinning every day when i got to work although one perticular night after a bit of a thor and flash freeze it took 3.5hrs to get home (just 4 miles) at one point I got stuck on a slight incline going over a bridge as i had to stop and couldn't get moving again The biggest problem I had was salt, even though I rinsed the car off with clean water it just attacked the front of the car! I also ran with a bag of sand on the back shelf which seemed to help.
  11. never had an Mgf but had a zr for about 6 years, the k seires is a good engine although quite close to the limit on coolant levers, one thing to look out for is the water pump leaking. quite often the cause of HGF but rerly fixed which often leads to repeated failures. I modified mine, changing internals from 1.4 to 1.8 and using PTP cams (very close to tf135cam) was putting out around 140bhp and more torque the the ZR160 made huge difference and never had the head gasket let go. changed 2 leaking pumps though!

very sad news, our thoughts are with you.
  13. Solved. Anti roll bar drop link has bust. looks fine when cars on the ground but when lifted it pulls away from the arb. £13 a pair on ebay so not the end of the world.
  14. it's clunking constantly, seen on another forum that it may be anti roll bar related or even dead shock which are both common on the picasso. will investigate further tomorrow if I get chance.
  15. not really sure how much movement is excessive but it's defiantly moving in and out and knocks in both directions.. tried rotating the shaft and it seemed fine with no backlash but didn't try holding the hub to test for joint movement. I think this shaft was changed last year when the ABS ring fell off so may be the circlip has come away.
  16. hi, I've had a knocking noise on the front passenger side of the Picasso for a couple of weeks now which I thought was another broken spring. (had 2 already) had the car jacked up and it appears to be the drive shaft moving in and out that's making the knocking noise. does this sound like it's the cv joint that's gone? the gaitors look fine. any help appreciated. Jamie.

    An Update

looking good. wish I had a big orange toolbox on wheels! and I still like those lights.
  18. I would maybe look at fitting coilovers, cutting the cup would leave a raw edge which could cause more damage if it ever caught the tyre.
  19. my exmo runs 185/60 R14 an they do look bait small but due to the camber on the back they are very close to the inner wing at the top and had rubbed the text off the inner wall before I wound the shocks up a couple of turns. my speedo also reads about 5mph slower then I'm actually traveling so I'm guessing my combo may be wrong.
  20. Was good to meet everyone, sorry we couldn't stay longer but the wife hadn't been to bed after her night shift and was feeling abit dead on her feet . The heavy rain storm we hit in Beverley woke her up quick though and it made the last couple of roundabouts intresting, I think I hit 4th before I got traction off one of them
  21. going to try and sweet talk the wifey before she goes to work tonight, if all goes well we will either drop kids off at my perents and travel down together or I may be able to come alone. all depends on how her night shift goes she might be too tired. from my house is about an hours run so will go direct rather diverting to meet and convoy so hopefully see you between 12-12:30 at the carpark ringend in red.

    Just A Quickie

if the alternator was disconnected It's all running off the nearly flat battery so wouldn't have thought it would of lasted long.
  23. hi welcome to the club, not sure on the stabiliser but you can get a roof and doors from gbs who have an ad on the home screen.
  24. I believe the gbs seats should fit too, I was told they would fit in my exmo which I think is similar size.
