  1. Thanks for all your replies (excellent response) - now following these up at local suppliers. Bob, re Saturday - that's why I am panicking. -Steve
  2. Hi, Just found a loose and worn lower front suspension ball-joint (click thumbnail). Have been to Unipart, and Camberley Autofactors with no success. The kit is the RH super-spec, but the item may have been used on the 2B. Can anyone help me identify it - I need to obtain a new one before Popham on Saturday. Thanks, -Steve
  3. let's see if this works
  4. My 18yr old daughter wants to start learning to drive. I was thinking about getting a Morris Minor (one that will last for a year or two before needing any major work on it- I need a project after finishing my RH), and adding her to the insurance policy - so that she can learn in it too. Would the premiums be sky high (as for tin-tops)? Is this a really stupid idea? Thanks, -Steve
  5. Well my diary is empty for that day - add me too - Steve (better give the car a clean)
  6. We will now be four (not three) -Steve (+Val, +Sophie, +Leanne)
  7. Found Hants & Berks car club pictures at http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x284/HBmotorclub/Longbridge%20Mill%202012/ Florrie and Chris's car are in there, but they missed out a picture of mine - perhaps I should have given the car a clean-up before hand! -Steve
  8. Add three for the day on Saturday (tintopping it). Will discuss with you on Friday -Steve (+Val +Leanne)
  9. OK, Val and I will make an appearance (I think the weather is going to be OK) -Steve
  10. Chris, Is this a "just turn up" event? Is anyone else going? Thanks, -Steve
  11. Bob, What's the agenda? Meet at 10.30- take a walk, then back to the pub for lunch? And what is the pub?
  12. Anyone know a web-site listing oil filter sizes and/or equivalents? I'm about to do an oil change, and I can source the original part number, but it's an old number. In the future, I'll probably need an equivalent number (or it would be nice to fit a smaller sized filter - to increase ground clearance) . For the records: this is what I've found so far (but it would be nice to confirm sizes). Rover Tseries (non-turbo) GFE171 ADU7417 Champion B104 (or B101) HOF213 Thanks, -Steve

    Iva Form Completion

When I used him (Paul Jepson), he informed me that he was ex-DVLA, so it was difficult to fault his service. -Steve
  14. I made one from marine ply - and heavily varnished it. Then added (left-over) flooring cloth to the interior. Had removable panels for fuel sender etc.
  15. I'm no expert, but there's always a lot of "transit" MT75 gearboxes on ebay. From ebay pics, the innards are probably similar but casings (especially bellhousings) are different to Sierra MT75s. I think there are also "Mondeo" MT75s - which are different yet again.
  16. So did a hoody buy this car then? (actually just posting this to get my name in the top 20 posters!)

    Mobile Phone

Have a look at http://giffgaff.com/ :10p/min phone calls, 6p/text. Credit doesn't expire until it is used up, will expire if there is no activity on sim for 6 months. Just got myself a SIM, and am looking at 250mins, unlimited text, unlimited internet for £10per month They also have a phone unlock section - don't know whether it's any good though -Steve
  18. One of the popular options is to fit winter tyres (always on four wheels). Has anybody done this to a hoodie? I would love to try my hoodie in the snow, but my standard summer tyres means it's a non-starter i.e would the investment in winter tyres be beneficial?
  19. Sorry not mine - I have cycle wings. -Steve
  20. The golden rule of manufacturing: never sell an item for what it cost you to make - always sell it at what the market will pay. Quite a good rule which is always seems to be proved right. I guess there are exceptions to which I'm sure some of you will elaborate on.
  21. Although I have used them many times - thay are not perfect. In my last order - they sent a piece of exhaust pipe in the wrong diameter even though it had been marked with the diameter I wanted - yes I measured, and remeasured and rechecked the catalogue. Their prices are questionable - spotted a nice digital speedo in their catalogue. Found the identical one on ebay that was cheaper. In their support - they do seem to stock a lot of useful stuff that is not easy to source elsewhere. My mantra: check prices elsewhere first (and then again Demontweeks is ultra expensive)
