    Cable Tie Bases

I passed SVA with stick on bases in nose for indicator wires, thought I would test one but could not get the blighter off again so on they went. I brought them from Wrights Auto Supplies 3 years and still there must be automotive spec.

    West Mids

Andi, yeah I turned around but you'd gone so I took the roof off and had some fun as it had dried a bit. I thought I heard something when I was driving through Princethorpe but right foot was too heavy. Never mind great run out, the view following an 8 car Hoody convoy looked awesome. Jez
  4. See you all there, what ever the weather. As my misses keeps saying "its a car why should rain stop you using it?", shame she wasnt there at the Foxton run when we got soaked. Jez
  5. For sale radiator as supplied with 2B plus kits 2004. This is unused but has had some lugs removed which stop it fitting in a 2B. As far as I have been able to find out it could be off an Escort diesel. Only want a tenner for it to get rid, could be cheap spare if your already using one. Jez
  6. Yes you will need the Sierra loom, well parts off it any way. The stalk connectors mostly as you cannot get new ones. Also I think you'll need the battery cables. I'd say strip it complete dont cut any wires as you wont know how long the wires will need to be yet. Jez
  7. Chris, is it venting water from the pipe on the side of the cap if it is you probally dont have a problem its just where the water goes when it expands. Fit an expansion/overflow tank to catch the water look at Capris or similar note when the car cools the water gets sucked back in. I had an S7 with no louvres? it was hot but didn't boil up just vented so I fitted a fan cowl and expansion tank of a Capri which solved the brown puddles, fitting stainless side vents to the bonnet helped reduce the under bonnet temp. Help!

Hi, still in a panic. If you havent resolved or turned to drink by now I think I can help. From what Ive seen of the zero loom its aimed at the newer stalks which switch a relay to ground. The older stalks switch 12v direct to the lamps, to make the zero loom work you need to change the 12v to the relay coils to ground. The relay coil is on pins 85 and 86. If you switches are the newer ones small brown wires from light switch then your okay. But. There may be a problem with the loom, the one I helped wire had some wires crossed in the relays I cant remember exact details but I think one relay had both power feeds across contacts and the other had dip and main across contacts pins 30 and 87. You need to make sure you have a power feed and a connection to a light on pins 30 and 87. Sorry its a bit late replying. Good luck. Jez

    Boiler Help

Dont touch Halstead mine broke down and was beyond repair after 4 years, luckily I have a Service contract with British Gas and they replaced it with a Worcester Bosch Green Star boiler. Their engineer says they wont fit anything else as Worcester are about the best on the market, time will tell but it does look well made. Jez
  10. This is the switch I'm using in my hood with EFI donor didnt have one? its wired in series to pump as Dan says. Its a Ford switch used everywhere from Fiestas to Jaguars (S type for sure). To wire in series just cut the power wire to the pump connect one cut end to C and the other to NC. Jez

    North East Meeting

You'll have a tourist from the Midlands, I'm visiting the inlaws in Houghton. Wont be in the hood though not enough seats for the family. Jez
  12. I completely rebuilt a Sierra MK1 in 6 months and my current 2B was completed in 2.5 years. Mind you I gained a son and a daughter during the build which may have slowed things. Jez
  13. I had the same problem, bloody annoying. I resolved by buying a piece of 2" steel pipe bent to 90 degrees giving a nice curve. I thought I would cut off the fuel cap end and weld the new pipe to it, but min bend rad was 5" bigger than filler. Got around this by welding in part of the curve between the cap and a bit that went in the tank. Now I can fill at full speed, worth doing the mod makes life with the hood much better. Jez
  14. Tony, you obviously know your electrickery, its a nice solution to the problem. I guess your diagrams are based on what you actually have switch and relay wise and you'll use the 3rd diagram, let us know if your successful wiring it in. Jez
  15. I assumed the box with fog in it was there to simplify the diagram and the relay output went to the fog switch then the fog lights.
  16. Tony, looks good to me should work fine. Jez
  17. Cheers Andy, nice drive out and a free car wash!! Thank god for the weather gear got hit by a four foot high wave off some fool driving in opposite direction through a foot of water, lets hope he didnt hydraulic his engine!! Jez

    Relays

Hi Andy, Mr Haynes wasnt too helpful but as far as I can tell 1 Tailgate release?? 2 Horn 3 Looks like Wiper intermittent relay (Haynes says seat belt warning but I doubt it) 4 Ignition switched power I would imagine changing to 55w h4s is more like changing back to the Sierra lights so relays shouldnt be needed, if the Sierra loom didnt have relays the switches should be okay. Jez
  19. Your right the solenoid is a type of relay but it is on a much bigger scale, I measured the resistance across my satrter solenoid and it was 0.8ohms this will draw 15amps so a relay is needed with a 6amp switch. Jez
  20. What rev counter are you using, someone may have a better idea if we know what it is. Jez
  21. Never mind burnt legs what about squashed by a passing lorry, I think kids are kids and the parents would know no ones to blame. I think it may get a little more complicated if you left the car and someone walking by or getting into an adjacent car got fried.

    S7 Radiator

Yeah the meet is at the Malt Shovel, on the A45. Last Wednesday of the month at 19:30.

    S7 Radiator

Should be Cortina they where supplied with the kits, if the outlets on the rad are straight out and not 90 degrees it could be a Coolman that GBSC sell. Saying that the coolman should fit in place of a cortina rad their about the same size. If you add your location in you profile I'm sure members nearby would be willing to come and kick your tyres. Jez
  24. Try this circuit, use a standard automotive relay their about 30mm square any motor factors will have one. Be careful if you use one from the doner the pins may be in a different position but connect to the the correct number. Jez
  25. Your thinking this will be a tale of woe, well no I think theres enough moaning going on and people are naturally more motivated to write posts when things go wrong so I'm going to do something different. Ordered a new chrome nose cone grill Wednesday night from GBSC via the interweb and received it Friday, well done great service. Jez (PS it fits as well)
