  1. Hello, I have basically the same setup, I'm using the Sierra fuel regulator as standard with return. I have connected the rear take off to the servo and the front to vacumn advance. With one port connected to the vacumn the dizzy rattled as the vacumn pulsed so I fitted one of the none returns that was on the Doner that solved the pulsing.
  2. I was told it makes a difference which way round you plum a mini heater but I can't remember which way it should be. Does the water pump takeoff go to top or bottom on the mini heater. Thanks Jez
  3. I've got 1.6 solid front disks and changed the rear end to 2 litre drums this gives a bit more braking to the rear which is good as weight distribution is fairly even. I have kept the servo and braking is pretty good. Jez

    Eek New Engine

Are you sure the knackered gearbox hasn't just jammed your engine the input shaft does pass the clutch and sit in the crank, it could be out of line if the box is broke. Just a thought Jez
  5. I assume your trying to make complete doors like you would have with normal weather gear. The doors I have which came with a hood set are made with a steel inner frame made with 2mm(max not sure exactly) X 30mmish material. The frame outlines the shape of the door and has a croos piece to divide for the window. They are clad on both sides with vinly and the window is made with similar flexible clear plastic. The frame can be bent/formed to match the shpe of the car. Hope this helps Jez
  6. I think this is normal there is usually a bit of gap under the ends of the screen as the curve along the bottom doesnt match the scuttle top. The screens are supplied requiring assembly but are not adjustable. Hope this helps Jez
  7. I upgraded to 40s and have kept standard sierra fuel pump etc, the main copper pipe from the tank is 6mm id and 8mm od, return pipe is 4mm id and 6mm od. The hose on the carbs is 8mm id hence the 8mm od copper pipe from the tank,I've had no probs so far. Jez
  8. Just out of curiosity, what angle have you made them to. Jez
  9. I just checked and the article is at the old site www.rhocar.org.uk in the downlods section. Goodluck Jez
  10. I'd recommend sending it back and looking up build tips on the main rhocar site, there should be a item on how to make a quick shift. I followed this and have a good gear change, no issues withe the reverse gate all for the cost of 3 nuts. Jez
  11. Allan Forgot this bit, the output shaft is different. If you have a UJ you should be able to pop down your local prop specialist and get a new end for your prop fitted just a case of splitting the UJ. Good news is the length is the same for both gearboxes so no mods needed. Jez
  12. When changing to 5 speed, two things to know are the gearbox mount is further back and the speedo cable exit is further back as well. RHE will have made provision for fitting a 5 speed, on my S7 there are two cutouts which can be removed, I braced across the front of the 5speed cutout to reinforce the gap left where the 4speed mount was. With the speedo cable get hold of a 5speed cable which is longer incase the current one doesnt reach it did on my S7. goodluck Jez

    Log Book

I am just updating my logbook with new engine number etc, and I'm not sure the details in Model/Type are correct. What should it read for an S7, what do your log books say. My car was registered and inspected by the DVLA in 1995 but the log book says its a "Ford Robin Hood" for Make and "two axle rigid bodied sports" for Model/Type. I want to correct this but I'm not sure what to put. Jez
  14. I stopped getting Which Kit because they had a witch hunt going on about Pilgrim Cars, Kit cars editor was a director and I think and ended selling up due to the stress. I think he deserves his say but enough is enough.
  15. A small film company (Extrem Air Production) filmed the Robin Hood sprint day at Curbrough sprint track and produced a video which you could buy as a memento of the day for £10. So now we can all watch our ambition exceeding ability over and over again. Jez Well I could if I had a complete tape!!
  16. Hi Joey, Just want to check something about the video, I watched it and it ended after approx 30mins with no credits etc. I think my copy maybe incomplete I'm sure not all the cars are on there. Can you let us know how long your video runs for. Cheers Jez
  17. Does anyone know the status of the video they where producing of the Curborough sprint day, is it available yet. I've lost the flier they gave out so have no contact info. Jez
  18. Send me your email I have the data sheets scanned. Jez
  19. As the demise of four star gets ever closer, I think its about time I did something. I was looking at using the Fuel Cat inline petrol treatment, at £75 quid its expensive but cheaper and easier than having the head done. I have a couple of questions though: 1st has anyone used these and are they any good. 2nd If I buy one and start using unleaded do I need to adjust the timing and how much, I'm running 2ltre with FR32 cam and twin 40s. Thanks

    Side Lights

You can buy leads that have the three pin headlamp connector which carry the side light underneath which lines up with the hole in the sealed beam reflector. There available at the usual sources Europa etc. alternatively you could salvage them from an older car such as an old Mini with seal beams. Jez
  21. We meet last Wednesday of the month at the Malt Shovel Pub, Stonebridge island on the A45 at about 19:30 onwards.

    Mystery Wire

There are no particular connections for the earths, the thin wire should bolt to your chassis, and the larger one goes on to one of the engine to gearbox bolts.
  23. Don't forget the fog cannot be within 100mm of the brake light.

    Fuel Problem

Johnathon, I'm using the standard engine fuel pump with 40DCOEs and I have kept the Sierra fuel regulator thingy which has a return to tank from it. I beleive it regs at 3.5psi and is also a vapour trap, I have no fuelling probs at all. If you feed straight back to the tank from the carbs I think you won't have any fuel pressure. Hope this helps.
