  1. All - Thanks for the kind offers but I'm now sorted. With a bit of luck no more sore hands!
  2. Had a couple of days off work to try to progress the Zero build. After breaking two hand held rivet guns in a day and wrecking my soft office boy hands, I'm on the look out for an Air rivet gun. Before I go and part with silly amounts of money at machine mart, I don't suppose anyone who has completed their build has one they wish to part with? Thanks......
  3. Think you'll be waiting a long time!
  4. Nothing to do with me whatsoever, but noticed a 2B for sale on another forum (xrtwo.com). You need to be a member on there to see the for sale posts but there are a few pics of the car here. http://www.thelost-boys.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1875 Although a little rough and ready, for £500 it doesn't seem bad value even if just for parts! Thanks.....
  5. Is anyone taking thier Zero along tonight?
  6. Nobody ever considered a BMW diesel? Two litre four pot, already set-up for RWD, 150-180bhp out of the box with 210 easily attained. Unsure about the management side of things though, perhaps this is the problem?
  7. I always remember a pinto rolling road shootout in a magazine from about 20 years ago. Loads of lads wheeled out their MK1 and 2 escorts running silly states of tune. Basically, when tested none of them made the numbers that were expected and blamed the rolling road - that is until a Roland Hayes' car(H-T Racing?)posted some really huge figures - with about 4 people sat in the boot to stop it spinning up while on the rollers!
  8. I was never happy with the fit of the rear panel on my Zero (or the positioning of the fog and reverse lamps) so a couple of weekends ago whilst in high sprits, it got permanentely defixed. On reflection after having picked up a new panel from GBS, I'm now thinking perhaps it wasn't so bad! I can honestly say I'm not looking forward to fitting it. Does anyone have, a step by step process, any good tips or links to blogs to help? Thanks..

    Radiator For 2B

Yes, I think it is a coolman radiator. Ascari wanted to keep the radiator outlets in the same configuration as the cortina rad so it's currently still sat here in the box it was supplied in. I'm currently waiting the hear back from someone who initially expressed an interest, but if anyone wants to express an interest let me know. £40-00 sound about right? Thanks...

    Oil Catch Tank

from speaking to a couple of companies it was recommended that I place the breather behind the middle cam tower on the exhaust side. I found I didn't need a splash plate using this method (But I did also have a drain from the catch tank back to the sump) The burton power website has a good explanation on how to set-up a breather system http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/engine-breather-system.html Thanks....
  11. Someone must be able to make use of these fine items. Make me an offer, worst I can say is *.%£;'@.

  13. As supplied by the factory. Blue with all top hat fixings and bolts. Belts have been fitted, but not not used as the car isn't yet on the road. Can't really say a great deal else! £50 (Plus p&p, if required - I'm based in Barnsley S Yorks)

    Radiator For 2B

Ascari - I have a rad that was supplied with my early zero kit, but not used (Still boxed). I suspect it is the same as the one supplied for 2B's but a photo of what you have would help confirm. Thanks.....
  15. Ian There's a set of stalks and wiring on ebay at the moment - about halfway down first page using 'sierra wiring' as the search criteria. Approx 3 days left to run. The is also a cpomplete loom from an XR4x4 here but I don't know how current the site is,may be worth a quick call. Thanks....

    Twin Weber 45's

No, not if standard or a relatively standard state of tune, the mech pump will be fine. Depending on how far you want to go with the engine 40's may have been a better choice. Thanks.......
  18. Ian - What engine are you going to be using?

  20. Don't know how to do a link to a post, but if you do a search using 'pinto' & 'breather' and by my user name there should be some decent info. Cheers....
  21. Motorsport regulations. Certain classes were/are restricted to only using two chokes and split carb's were a way of circumnavigating the rules.
  22. Cummon Zero owners, there must be someone out there (with the later model full fibregelass rear arches)who can supply me with a a couple of measurements....please.

    Budget ?

Gazza Having either owned or been invovled in building plenty of seven type cars, unless you have the patience of a saint it can get frustrating having to wait to buy parts month on month and interest can easily be lost. With the budget mentioned I'd recommend: - Set your sights slightly lower and buy a completed car. Enjoy it as it is and look to improve over time. - Take a bit of time to save up some more money. You could concentrate on buying and refurbisihing cheap donor parts during this period, making the final build more bolt together. - As I said earlier, buy a part build project. Although it can be a ballache putting right other people's mistakes, I'm hoping to have a fully IVA'd Zero for about £1k less than your starting point.
