  1. So the weber 34 is back on and engine running. Unfortunately didn't have time to do anything else today but at least unknown I can start and move the car now. The dellortos will go back on before IVA as whichever carb i fit they need setting up properly so might as well be the dellortos.
  2. Thanks all for the advice and encouragement. I'm going to go back to the weber 34 for now so I can get going on the other jobs and get the car finished and shelve the dellortos until I have some time and money to take Brumster up on his very kind offer of getting it to aldon for them to setup. First job (after the shopping...) fit the weber and get it out the garage!
  3. Thanks both. Decided to cheer myself up before settling down to watch the F1 qualifying Might do some work on the cycle wing fittings once qualifying is over.
  4. I'm a bit fed up with the car at the moment. I keep going out to work on it / tidy up to make it easier to work in it, and I end up messing with the engine. I'm very tempted right now to take the 40s off and go back to the weber 34 as I can't seem to get a setup that works on the 40s, though I really don't want to have to do that. I have had it running on them but struggle to start it and once running its difficult to keep running unless hold revs high, though its the starting that's the real issue. I thought I had jets etc now all selected close enough to give me a working setup, but clearly I've got something very wrong. I did think it was my ignition setup but having fitted the accuspark with blackbox and then tweaked this I am happy that its not that, again unless I have got something comepletly wrong that I just can't see. Other than the obvious reasons for getting held up and fed up with not being able to sort the engine running, the issue is the car is very difficult to push in and out of my garage, and also very difficult to work on in the garage, especially with the list of jobs I have left, so the engine issues means I then get fed up as its difficult to get other jobs done. whinge over.

    Stoneleigh Video

Does still amaze me how much more participation we get then the likes of westfield and caterham. I suppose it just the difference between those that build and those that have them built...
  6. Could well be up for this if I'm not working on mine that weekend.
  7. Don't worry mick. From the front it will be red white blue
  8. Oh and the French flag is blue white red, the nose cone is on its back there so it will be red white blue on the car. So french flag from behind and Luxembourg from the drivers side lol
  9. Thank you all, think 30mm it will be. Original 'design' is below, though there will be some changes to this now, basic principle is the same
  10. Got the stripes for the kit today, and now unsure about spacing... Few options below, suggestions welcome 30mm gap 50mm gap (equal to width of stripes) 100mm gap
  11. Have tried the various starting methods but using the cold start is the only way I can get it running. The whole engine setup definitely needs more attention to get it running properly.
  12. I was going to but was told last minute I had other commitments. Actually out some fuel in this afternoon, had to tweak dizzy position but it runs. Needs further setting up but that's for another day.
  13. With this completed I decided to have a go at the nose cone. Base of etch primer And painted white I think I'm going to mask off and paint the metal side panels in satin black, letting paint harden first though. Pretty happy with the finish overall though think I may need another coat on the nose cone to get it looking perfect.
  14. Ok, before anyone else says it, yes there are far more important jobs I should be doing on the build before what I have done today, but I felt the need to do something "visible". So yesterday an today were spent in prep and in carrying out some painting! Because I removed the windscreen some filling was needed on the scuttle which meant I was always going to do need to paint it before IVA. In etch primer Mid-way through paint coats Also painted part of the mirror base to match the scuttle leaving just the upright chrome Gave the aeroscreen a quick dusting of satin black and all reassembled
  15. Depends whats causing the high idle. Could just be the throttle stop needs adjusting
  16. Marlin is a lovely looking machine! As above please keep us updated!

It's only balancing that may need doing on a regular basis, and that's a piece of piss to do, so much so you could do it before each drive if you really wanted to b
  18. What carbs are you running? If side drafts a pressure regulator maybe worth fitting certainly worth chucking in with the bits to take as you have it.

Those dellortos are very cheap! Much rather that than the bodies and associated management costs.
