  1. Any tips on how to separate the top ball joint? First side separated easily, just couple good hits with a hammer with one the otherside. The near side one though just doesn't want to budge
  2. Just been working on my cycle wings using the remains of donaldthompsons wings after he cut them off his car, only to discover that by mounting the bracket to the underside if the bar that bar then fouls the top wishbone, so now have to remove what I have done and work out a way to hang the bar from the bracket
  3. Throttle linkage is there isn't it? If so should be a 'bolt off, bolt on job'. If you were more local I'd come lend you a hand, but it's a simple job.
  4. Thanks Chris. Yes photos of what you had to do would be great. I have a plan of action but the more I can see that have passed IVA (or at least not failed on construction) helps to make sure I get this bit right.
  5. Hi Chris, Is the seat area the only bit you had to strengthen?
  6. I'm free this weekend so if roads are ok (bloody snow) you are welcome to pop round. Message me do address etc
  7. That's pretty shocking to be honest.
  8. First is an industrial carbon fibre seat that was used on an off road buggy previously so has had some bits trimmed off though still very strong. £19.00 I have a set of 4 alloys from a Capri 2.8 special (et5 7x13)that need refurb, picture below is one I will be keeping but you can see the one it's say on has been painted, I have cleaned up 2 of them and the paint comes off easily revealing the original silver below but really need refurbishing. REDUCED NOW £50 Lastly I have a set of 4 steel wheels from a sierra suitable as build wheels. Free to good home. All to be collected from Northfield, Birmingham. Can deliver locally at cost.
  9. Simple fixes by the sounds of it which is good news for me to! Any details on strengthening etc you did?
  10. I like your thinking Phil. Just like to point out that I have also now paid.
  11. Access to for sale sections is a good one. Locostbuilders.co.uk you can't see for sale items until 48 hours after they are posted, which was enough to make me pay in there. Also restricting number of daily posts and /or restricting number of page views per day. Also I think being able to see the content of the member only sections but not open the threads themselves would be good. It lets people see what they are missing so to speak.
  12. Increasing restriction to the forum would help, but locking completely would mean that people just don't join and the club would die in my opinion. Infact, the main reasons I paid membership (and now continue to) on other clubs is because of the frustration caused by restricted access.
  13. I have a video of me driving out the garage...
  14. I'll give it some thought, there are much larger clubs with only a small number of people running them so there must be a low labour way of doing it. Apologies Alan, I read your post more as a justification rather than a sales pitch!
  15. The magazine certainly makes it more complicated but surely a simple database could be used to monitor it? Even a spreadsheet could do it but would probably prove more labour intensive.
  16. I did trial it before making it and think it will be ok. Though I need to change the wheel for IVA. Thanks for all the positive comments.
  17. I have read the thread, but my point is to a none member there is no concise listing of benefits anywhere I have seen in the time I have been using this site. If there is one then maybe it would be good practice to link none members to it when telling them to pay up? Might even persuade me to become a member ;-) Oh, and only running membership from January to December will put off most people joining from April onwards.... Edit: there were posts while I was typing. Thanks phil for the reply. Longboarder, my point was that people had seemingly ignored that post. If you want people to pay more for something (and £15 is infinitely more than nothing) than you have to shout about what they get for the money!
  18. Or publicise the benefits of paying more? I've just asked what they are and two replies later its been ignored...
  19. I'm also not a paid member, but I am a paid member of two other clubs. I haven't paid membership here because I felt the other related club provided enter value for money in the general kit car sense, and the other already offers many discounts etc. finally, other than being able to post for sale adverts and the access to the club stand at shows I don't know what benefits membership offers. Maybe I have missed it but I have never seen anything that tells me what the benefits are.
  20. Made up my dash last night, very pleased with it!
  21. I've currently got a cut to shape dash made from plywood. However the holes are wrong for my dah layout so need to make a new one. What have you all used? Just wondering if there is a better option before I go down the same route.

    S7 And Iva

Thanks Alan. My list is by no means definitive, just what I have managed to put together. Edit. Also it is meant as a list if S7 specific items, rather than those affecting all Kits such as bolt covers etc.

    S7 And Iva

I thought it would a useful resource for the collective to out together details and photos of what needs doing to get an S7 through IVA. I have listed below the areas and works required as I understand them, if people who have them completed could provide photos that would be great. Add bar to roll frame to run harnesses over to raise to required height. Reinforce rear mounting bar Metal bars from steering column mounts to scuttle supports Load spreading plates for lower seat belt mounts Anything else or photos please add details below.
