  1. Hi I'll be travelling down on Sunday. Not planned a time yet, but probably set off from Selby around 10 ish e
  2. Hi I used Leeds as well. I applied through Paul Jepson and he warned me at the time that Leeds had just stopped the home visit service, due to a retirement. I think I had a 2 month wait, and I had to trailer it there - no question, with ALL four wheels off the ground. Was very fortunate that I knew someone who could help. He's buggered off to live in Cyprus so I can't offer his services to ya. It's just the way it is. Its galling tho' cos when you get there the inspection takes less than 10 minutes. They look at the engine number, the chassis number, any paper work (proof of newness etc), fill in a form and state new or age related plate and ask you for a cheque....... Gov't agencies.... don't ya just love em e
  3. Hey Dunno if it helps, but the Sierra uprights I have on the Superspec don't have ford bottom joints, they're actually Peugeot (406 I think). I seem to recall seeing articles about having to use lock-wire from some of the 2B builders on here as there where no locking tabs on the wishbones, they looked exactly like the joints I have, so it's possible the Lieghtweight is the same?? Regards e
  4. Sweet Well done - just get her legal and drive your wheels off Well done!! e

    Exhaust Wrap ?

Hi I got mine from Car Builder, 50mm wide on a 55 foot roll. The superspec has a four into one and I covered it down to just before the exhaust exits the body, have about quarter of a roll left. Hope that helps e
  7. Hi Wired mine in parellel via a relay and a 20amp fuse. I used a relay 'cos the switch I had wasn't guarenteed to handle much current e
  8. Hi Flux - £75 on original kit price and on chassis number (superspec), went up to £140 when the car was re-valued. Build up cover was 3rd party fire and theft + accidental damage, so if I blow it up during the build I was coverd very reasuring e

HI I Had Flux's laid up cover (£100 notes for the year) and paid a one off of £21 for the sva day. e
  10. Hi Ditto on the above. Engine loom was already installed, I seem to remember only having to connect it to the ECU and following the diagram re instrumentation, relays etc. e

    On The Road

Hi folks Just a quickie to say that she is at last registered and on the road as of yesterday morning. Already run up 90+ miles: its amazing how often you need to "nip down the road" The final weight from the SVA was: Front - 310 Rear - 374 Total - 684 Total Calculated Laden weight - 834 It flippin fantastic to have her legal and on the road, had to pinch myself a few times yesterday, she really really is a car Here's how she looks now And thank you all once again for the contributions and help I've received. There were a few dark moments during the build that this site and all of you helped me get through, a very big thank you! e

    Superspec @ Beverley

HI Just got back from the re-test and.......... IT PASSED, IT PASSED, IT PASSED, IT PASSED, IT PASSED, IT PASSED, Thanks to everyone who has offered advice and encouragement over the past couple of years!!!! Can't quite believe it. I went expecting a fail on Handbrake effort (just hadn't got it right last night). But the sun was shinning in more ways than one today sorry cant stop grinning. Had the built-up inspection last year, but I think I'd be better to wait til 1st march for the registration.... thats going to be a looooong two weeks cheers folks Oh did I say... IT PASSED, ???? e
  19. Hi Had the same fuel leaking problem at my SVA, but it was a rubbish seal between the cap and the RH made filler neck. Couldn't get it solved so I had tp buy new aero and filler neck - no leak at all now. MUST get it back for a re-test now e
  20. Yeah I think Will is right on that.... e
  21. Hey this is one of my fail points from my recent SVA - same speedo, stuck at 30 and then at 40 and jumped all over the place from 25 - 55 e

    Sva Fail St Beverley

Cheers guys - Fog light seems to be working ok now Anyone got any thoughts on the handbrake issue? The lever is taking up all the slack in the cable properly - it used to move 7 clicks and virtually no bit - now its 3 and I cant push the car. But its still not enough Could the calipers be faulty (they were reconditioned ones) ? Are there any good aftermarket alternatives for kit cars ? Any thoughts greatly appreciated e
  23. Hey Dave If you're having the same problems here the list of things Avon said to check: 1 - make sure you have fuel 2 - Make sure there are no cracks in the vacuum pipe and that its connected properly 3 - when you switch on the ignition circuit can you hear the pump prime? 4 - as you fire the engine does the pump go again? Failing that give paul at Avon a call: 01789 450808 e

    To All Super Specers!

Hi Jase The remote res is dead simple: the servo is inside the scuttle which doesn't open etc, so you cant get to it, hence it had to be moved. No sure about loosing the servo - its connected to the inlet manifold... dunno if that'd be a problem or not. The real fun would be sourcing an appropriate MEMs ECU (I know, believe me!) One of the nice things about the T16 is that they are very under stressed - even the turbo version at 200BHP - so there is quite a bit of potential if you know how to tune engines (not so many off the shelf items like the K-Series tho) e

    To All Super Specers!

Hi Jase The spec comes with an MT75 mated to it via a large plate and a few cuts into the bell-housing to accomodate the starter motor. I'd have thought that that maybe the way to go as its already been done. The Prop is as modified by RH - but is probably like the 2B's etc. Another thing to consider is the T16 is hung from the frame rather than sitting on it - (don't know about the pinto to be honest) in the spec there is the front mount point on the engine, but the two sides are off of the gear box adaptor plate. Not in the Midlands myself, but if you wanna come have a look PM me e
