  • Welcome to The UK Kit Car Club

    Heritage logo

The Committee would like to congratulate Heritage Insurance on their 60th Anniversary in 2025

The aim of the club is to help and support members during the build (and inevitable ongoing maintenance and modification) as well as to plan and organise events throughout the year. The Club attends the major kit car shows throughout the year providing a stand with tea and coffee, plus a BBQ with food for members. You'll be warmly received, especially if you bring more food and drink !! We also have stands at many other shows all around the country.

It's not just shows though, our active area secretaries and members regularly arrange run outs and longer trips to such places as Le Mans, Wales and Scotland, plus the annual club camping weekend and the traditional “end of season” get together. Keep an eye on the events section of the forum for news and details of upcoming events.

The Club also produces four magazines a year, exclusively for club members, filled with all manner of things club or motoring related, and members can get their own articles published in it as well if they wish.

The Club is an independent organisation, and although we have our roots as the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register (RHOCaR), we are very much a club for all makes and model of kit car, so anyone can be a "Hoody", as it's all about the state of mind, not the car you drive! Being a member of The UK Kit Car Club has many benefits above those already mentioned. Members benefit from discounted insurance with nearly all of the specialist kit car insurers, and often find that the discount is more than the club membership fee. Membership also gets you full access to the forum, and a variety of other discounts such as with Euro Car Parts. You'll also find other members are willing to go well above and beyond for any other member they see is in need of help !

So whether you own a Robin Hood, a GBS Zero, a Locost, an MK, a Westfield, a Caterham, (or any of the many other types of kit car), everyone can benefit from joining, so what are you waiting for ?

    Help me out here

    ClaudiaMM
    By ClaudiaMM,

A bit random. My nephew (a new adult, bless him) is suddenly into Kit cars, which is fabulous news, and I want to help him get started. Unfortunately, he thinks I'm very uncool and doesn't trust my advice, so instead, I'm putting a little information pack together with resources he might actually listen to 😂 I'm including below, but I would love either some direct advice I could include or some resources you guys think are decent - thanks!

    New Westfield Owner.

    Steve G
    By Steve G,

Thought I would say hello as I have just joined.

I bought my Westfield in December 2023 from a friend at work. It had been off the road for 14 years and has needed quite a bit to get it back on the road. It's an early narrow bodied SE fitted with what I believe is a 1.7 Crossflow.

I used it a bit last year but a few wiring problems meant it wasn't a lot. Not done much this year yet but did get to do a parade lap at Thruxton a few weeks ago.

Not many Westfield owners I know about near to me in Andover so I wondered if there were any other kit car owners near me.

West Midlands Monthly Meet 28th May 2025

    richyb66
    By richyb66,

Next Wednesday 28th 6pm onwards, Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL.

Generally they're trying to kick us out just after 930pm so if you're coming, don't leave it too late. Also, if you want to eat, book beforehand as they don't normally let people just rock up and eat.

Entrance to the pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island.

    Everyone welcome, see you there.

    Indie Jaguar garage

    ZeroKnowledge
    By ZeroKnowledge,

    Hi All

Can anyone recommend (or not recommend) an independent Jaguar garage around the north east of England.

It looks like my dads 2016 XJ V6 diesel has blown a turbo & has "run-on"

He had a big fright & was visibly shaking. (have a google for diesel run-on to see how it looks)

luckily the engines not seized but we have no idea of any internal engine damage

We have had a few quotes, but want more, its gonna be expensive.

Appreciate any info & thanks in advance

    cheers Paul

    By alanrichey,

As a reminder, the National Kit Car Show takes place at the 3 Counties Showground at Malvern the weekend of 31st May/1st June.   This is the main annual event for the kit car community, so if you visit nothing else, this the one to attend. And the Club's Annual General Meeting will be held there at 15:00 on Saturday.

The Club have been allocated stands E2/3/4 as shown on the attached diagram.   See you there,

Raising Car an inch or 2

    CORDERS
    By CORDERS,

    Hi Again Everyone.

Today for the first time I persuaded her indoors to accompany me for a ride out in the car. Where we live there are a number of speed bumps In order for our local posh kids in their parent bought little GTIs and supermini’s  to stick to the 20mph hour. Now not to put too fine a point on it both myself and she who must be obeyed are not the skeletal types in fact a few extra pounds in fact stones have been present for years.

Problem is that car bottoms out on each speed bumps and I’m scared of ripping out the underside of the car. The crunch is sickening even when I try to crawl over the humps at an angle barely moving. Moving house apparently is not an option for the Mrs.
Problem  no 2 is sadly unlike you guys who have built these cars from scratch and are very hands on I am certainly not very mechanically minded. I obviously need to somehow raise the whole car a little to stop it getting wrecked on these car killing humps.

initally I thought ok maybe bigger wheels and tires? Probably not so shock absorbers maybe the answer? Does anyone have any idea what I should get to fit the car although it will be a case of me being advised what to get and asking my local garage to fit them. I have taken pictures of the front but until I get get her on a ramp (the car not the Mrs) I can’t get pictures of the rear. PLEASE DONT SUGGEST SELLING THE RH AND BUYING A MONSTER TRUCK!!!

ANY advice would be appreciated guys. I got away with suggesting that we may have to get an extension for the passenger harness by the skin of my teeth but suggesting us both losing 5 stone is a non starter I think 😂 😂 😂
