  • Welcome to RHOCaR - The UK Kit Car Club

The aim of the club is to help and support members during the build (and inevitable on going maintenance and modifcation) as well as to plan and organize a wide range of social and sporting events, from local area events to our national End of Year Bash! We have one of, if not the largest club stand at the National Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh each year, and we definitely serve the best burgers! We also have stands at many other shows throughout the year all around the country. It's not just shows though, our active area secretaries and members arrange regular run outs and even longer trips including the ever popular Wales and Scotland trips.

The Club produces four magazines a year, exclusively for club members. It is packed with news, events, articles, technical features and irreverent cartoons. The Club is an independent organisation, and although we have our roots as the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register, we are very much a club for all makes and model of kit car, so anyone can be a "Hoody", as its all about the state of mind, not the car you drive!

Being a member of The UK Kit Car Club has many benefits above those already mentioned. Members benefit from discounted insurance with nearly all of the specialist kit car insurers, and often get a discount that is more than the membership fee itself. Membership also gets you full access to the forum, and a wide variety of other discounts, including discounts at Euro Car Parts. You'll also find other members are willing to go well above and beyond for anyone they see is in need of help, as long as they too are a member!

So whether you own a Robin Hood, a GBS Zero, a Locost, an MK, a Westfield or a Caterham, all can benefit form joining, so what are you waiting for?

    By theduck,

The long awaited forum upgrade is complete.  I have started a thread for feedback and suggestions, so that we can keep them all in one place, here:

We will continue to provide updates to you all on this post.  There is still work on going but rather than delay things further we wanted to get the site back to you.  Below you will find useful information about the new site and we will add to this over time.

    User / Display Name

One of the things that has changed in the new version is that user names and display names are now one and the same thing.  Previously you might have logged in using one name but another name would displayed on the forum.  We made the decision to stick with user names during the upgrade, as going with display names would have meant you wouldn't have been able to use your old login details!

If you would like for your username to be changed, please pm me and I will make the necessary changes.

    Mobile View

The way the sites mobile view works has changed, however you can still switch between the full site and mobile view quite easily, links to instructions on how to do this are below:

    iPhone / iPad - https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-force-your-iphone-or-ipad-to-load-the-desktop-version-of-a-website/
    Android - https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-request-desktop-version-of-a-web-site-in-chrome-for-android/

    Membership changes

We are now able to offer all members a full 12 months membership from the day they join!  Ideally all members will purchase their membership using the subscription option at the top of the forum when their renewals become due, but we will still be able to process manual memberships where required.

As part of these changes we will be making use of the forum software for full management of the membership database.  This will mean that members will need to enter their address on their profile in order for us to send out magazines etc.  Please rest assured that only the committee will have access to that information.

    Merchandise Store

I am pleased to also be able to announce the launch of our new merchandise store, which offers a range of goods including t-shirts, hoodies, caps etc.  all of which can printed or embroidered!  To access the store just click the store button at the top of the page and it will open in a new window. (N.B Embroidered isn't available just yet, but will be very soon.)

    Community User Access

An outstanding action point from the 2017 AGM was to address community user access, I am pleased to say the upgrade allows us to do that, and community users are now only able to post 5 times per day.  We will keep the restrictions on community users under review and adjust accordingly.

    New Member Map

Only accessible to full members the new member map is to be found by clicking Portal and then Member Map.  Unfortunately the plug-in used for this before is no longer compatible with the latest forum software, so we have moved to a new alternative, this means the map is almost completely empty, so get adding yourselves!

The new forum software also includes a choice of Themes, so you can change the look of the forum to suit your preference.  There is currently a choice of 3, the default theme which is  a bright and light look to it, and two different darker themes.  To select these, scroll to the bottom of any page and click on Theme

Another new feature, if you require technical or general support with the Forum, Membership or any other RHOCaR related topic, you can now use the Support tab at the top of the page to raise a support request.  Really it is just a fancy way of getting in touch with us, but it does make sure your message gets to the right person first time.

Outages Advanced Warning - Forum Upgrade

    By theduck,

The forum software that we currently use is long overdue an update, and I am pleased to say that this will be taking place in the near future. This will mean that the forum will be out of action while the upgrade work is undertaken. A large part of the upgrade work is being undertaken by our software providers who are unable to give a definitive date as to when they will undertake their share of the work, only that it will be within the next three weeks. During the outage we will keep members updated via the facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/514980222217443/

Please expect the forum to be out of action for a couple of days when the upgrade takes place.

    Kitfest @ Santa Pod 14Th To 16Th June 2019

    By geordie40,

This event has just popped up on my Facebook feed, it's a little far for me in Devon but may be of interest for some closer. Its on 14th-16th June 2019

Hope link works, if not just Google it.

    By theduck,

We experienced an outage today (05/11/2018) the initial cause of which appears to have been an issue with out host provider, as their own sites were down. Once the host issue was resolved this had caused a corruption of the database, which has been repaired and as such normal service should be resumed.

If you do run into any ongoing issues please do message me.

    Area Secretary Changes

    By richyb66,

We're pleased to announce the following changes to the Area Secretary roles.

Current Leicestershire Secretary Andy Cartwright (Andi) is relocating to Stafford and so will be standing down from his current role and has agreed to take up the vacant position in Staffordshire. No doubt Andy will have plans for the area and as we have a number of members locally, hopefully they will give him their support in anything he organises.

Kerry Allen (Kerry)has kindly agreed to take over the Leicestershire role from Andy.

They both have a wealth of experience in the club and Im sure everyone wishes them well in their new roles.

Were always looking for people to fill vacant Area Secretary positions and its a position that isnt as time consuming or difficult as people think and is something you can really put your own stamp on. As a minimum youll probably need to post up a monthly meet but anything over and above that is pretty much up to you. Local area events can apply for club funding so if you want to organise a gathering that involves some expenditure, the club can help with this.

As a small reward for you efforts, you do receive free club membership so if anyone would like to consider a position and wants more information, please contact me.
