Fuel Tank Fittings

Hi all, I'm after an 8mm hose fitting I can fit to a RH fuel tank. It would need to bolt in and seal well as it will be low down on the tank. It needs to bolt in as tank is used and on car so no welding.

Does the hole already exist or are you thinking of drilling into a tank that has had fuel in it?

No hole, was thinking empty tank and fill with water above where hole is to be drilled.

What is going to form the threads.

The thin wall of the tank will not support this type of fitting.

You will need a proper tank fitting fed in through the sender hole.

Bulk head fitting and Dowty washers ,did mine years go as far as I know never been any trouble , hydraulic fittings supplier should be able to supply , can be a fiddle to fit but doable mick

Thats the thing Ian I put in with a bit of string through it and the pick up pipe and washers the hole was close to the bottom of the tank and held the unit whist it was tightened mick [ on site at night or desert engineering tricks ]

Just don't knick one from a sanger, the boys with guns get a little bit touchy about that.

I would have thought a suitable sized sump plug washer would do the job?

Make sure the washers have viton rubber bonded to them, standard will be nitrile which will be attacked by modern fuels.

Good call will get viton when fittng arrives and I know what size I need.

Do you guys think it would ok to drill the tank empty or do I to vent it or fill with water when I drill the hole?

Drop a match in it first to clear the vapours then you should be fine to drill it minus your eyebrows:)))
