I know a 2B is not a car to leave alone in the street...but if you are driving close to the beach 8) ...and your pretty passenger tells you to stop to take a drink  ...what do you use to do to prevent the car to be stolen?? . Mine is without roof and doors, the bonnet use the typical rubber locks that you can open with one finger and I think the steering key lock won't be difficult to open for a thief...so...what to do?? :help: .

Best wishes, David.

Alarm (with immobiliser), hidden switch and soon to add quick release steering wheel....

The more obviously difficult to steal (no steering wheel) the less likely anyone will be to try and steal it - saving repair bills etc.

As a bare minimum, I'd suggest you buy a 12v relay, (toggle) switch and wire up inline with the main feed from battery to the ignition solenoid. (not the feed from battery to starter motor!)

Hide switch under/behind the dash in a position which you can reach when sat in the drivers seat but not visible from anyone looking around the vehicle.

Also with an alarm, you coudl fit a switch or two to the engine bay so if the bonnet is lifted off, the alarm would sound.

Hope that helps.

Sadly I just switch it off take out the key and walk away!!

Usually come back to admiring folk.

Never had a problem even in Europe.

One tip when you leave it is take a pic of any parking ticket you have left on the dash / screen in case it gets blown away.

Mine came with battery isolator under the bonnet, lift one side of the bonnet, turn off and take the key with me, also heavy locking bar through the steering wheel, not too keen on removeable steering wheels, know of at least 2 that have removed (on this site?) whilst being driven, also really don't want to walk into a pub carrying a steering wheel, could lock it in the boot I suppose. Nice romantic walk along the beach, "why have you brought a steering wheel on our first date?" Was worried about leaving it the first couple of times but thought I bought it to use so will take the chance, have only come back to people admiring it, some even taking photos. Also, whenever in pay and display, take a pic of the ticket in the windscreen.

yep pretty much have to leave it and walk away. i do have a hidden switch to cut off the power to the coil but i am not sure how hidden it is really for the determined thief. My view (and i hope it holds true) is that they are so conspicuous and unique that a would be thief would leave it as it is too specialised to strip easily and quite obvious if joy riding. fingers crossed

i read about maybe a caterham? that was nicked with a low loader, just turned up lifted it on and off they went. So removable steering wheel or not didn't matter.

i do like the idea of a handbrake lock as i think it may be likely that some kids might have a play and let it off on a hill etc might have to add that at some point.
