July 31, 201213 yr Hi guys, I have several quieries I hope someone can answer. I'm in the final throws of completing my Zero and trying to tie up a lot of loose ends. (1) My HP Fuel pump has two connections, a thin pillar and a larger one. On my 'plug and go' engine loom I have two wires to go to the pump, a blue wire and a brown wire. Which one goes to which? (2) I have an Induction Sensor EMP34 - 1Kit for the speedometer. Does it require magnets or is it impulsed from the diff flange nuts? (3) On my engine loom for the Zetec engine I have two redundant plugs : One is for 'Air temperature' (Blue cable and a white cable), the other is for 'Oil Pressure' (Black/white/yellow/brown cables). The oil pressure switch already has a plug fitted to it. Are they actually required on this model as I don't appear to have a socket to plug them in to? (4) Where could I obtain the concertina rubber covers for the nose cone indicator stalks? Hope you can help. Regards Mike
July 31, 201213 yr Where abouts are you? As for the Air temperature plug, there IS a connection to the air temperature which is on the back of the plenum chamber. There should be one somewhere on the system as the EUC requires it. There are two oil pressure sensors on my zetec, one for the gauge and one for the ECU. Simon.
July 31, 201213 yr Hi Mike. From your detail looks like you are in Tamworth. There Is a good local club. Gaz the area secretary is brilliant and knows his stuff. Myself and Bob have just finish building our Zeros and Bob's is a zetec, mine is a Pinto. All the local guys are very knowledgable and helpful, without them I would not be on the road! Best thing to do is come to the monthly meet at the Malt shovel, just of the A45 at the stone bridge island. Last wed of the month. Steve
July 31, 201213 yr if you want to give me a bell mate my number is in the front of the mag i also know a member on your doorstep who is very knowledgable i may be able to pass you his no..
July 31, 201213 yr Mike. 1. Looking at a GBS wiring diagram the brown is always the negative so I would say blue to the +ve and brown the -ve 2. If you have an induction sensor you can use the magnets, if you have a hall effect sensor that needs 12v power, then you can point it at the diff bolts. You can use magnets as well but they are not as effective (apparently!) 3. I have an oil pressure sender on my Zetec and used 2 of those wires. If you are using the GBS plug 'n' play loom and ETB guages, the senderis marked with a G and WK. G is for Gauge and has the white wire and WK is for Warning Light and has the yellow wire. Not sure about Smiths gauges. 4. My indicator covers are landrover shock absorber covers and came from e-bay. Hope this helps. David
July 31, 201213 yr (1) My HP Fuel pump has two connections, a thin pillar and a larger one. On my 'plug and go' engine loom I have two wires to go to the pump, a blue wire and a brown wire. Which one goes to which? HP fuel pump is supplied by a GREY wire and a brown wire. Grey is + brown - (2) I have an Induction Sensor EMP34 - 1Kit for the speedometer. Does it require magnets or is it impulsed from the diff flange nuts? this sensor can be aimed at the bolt heads (3) On my engine loom for the Zetec engine I have two redundant plugs : One is for 'Air temperature' (Blue cable and a white cable), the other is for 'Oil Pressure' (Black/white/yellow/brown cables). The oil pressure switch already has a plug fitted to it. Are they actually required on this model as I don't appear to have a socket to plug them in to? air temp needs sender (part of ECU pack) fitted either to air cleaner back plate (if using throttle bodies) or back of plenum. if you have a plug fitted to the sender you have a smiths transmitter, fit it into oil gallery the other side of the engine mounting to the ford oil pressure switch. do NOT remove ford oil pressure switch. loom white to sender green/orange loom black to sender green loom brown to sender black loom yellow connect to original (Ford) oil pressure switch can't help you with last question, don't use supplied brackets. Regards
August 2, 201213 yr Mike, Regarding the concertina rubbers. Have a look at this on fleabay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261074674769?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 They look like they will do the job nicely. Ian
