Lockable Boot Lid, Any Ideas Guys ,type Of Material

Hi guys

I wish to make a lockable boot on my S7 and looking to see if anyone has done this or any other car.

Ideas of material or a fabricator who has done it ??

Hi, Florin's boot & lid is all stainless -- boot lid is folded to give a safe edge on the 90* up-stand, corners are silver soldered. Two standard brass hinges fix lid to upstand on surround ( to prevent the rain getting in) & two locks secure it. ( £4/5 each & keyed alike ) Also made a strut to lock in open position.

Ours is some ply covered with leatherette, stainless piano hinge with a barrel lock and home made clasp that goes under the upper chassis rail.

Yep second Ians method. Did the same on my 2B...Bit of Ply covered in leatherette. Barrel lock and and piano hinged...worked well and was secure.

+1 for Ian & Tazz's method.

What I did was take the bootlid to the top of the square tube.

Made more room plus an angled lid so any rain runs right off

0.7mm stainless for those that haven't got any ply left!! Hinges & locks look to be same style on all lids though.

But if i had Bobs skills his is the best i have seen and keeps all the rain out.
