How do you like these curves...

 

The way it goes i thought it would have more power, but if you look at the torque it explains why it goes like it does... more than pleased with these results.

I was pretty much on the bubble when I said 240Bhp

 

I got 230 on mine with 205lb/Ft torque....and that was a beast...enjoy but be careful as it will bite 8) The torque meant I hardly ever needed to change gear :db:

On a standard engine with 130 cams and 8psi..im gonna stick my head in the block and go for,

 

175bhp at wheels, 225 at flywheel if i may caveat that with a 5% fudge factor. Lots of variables to contend with there.

 

My favourite number is torque and im going at around 250 lbs/ft

All I'm going to say is a repeat of my ramble with Nigel on the other topic.......that's now 3 duel TB charger projects done all with pretty good curves...

Bring on the 4th!!!

Did the tuner manage to improve the 70mph behaviour?

I would like to see the whole curve, 1000 to 7000. Mind you I don't often rev over 6000 on the street. Thats a huge chunk and spread of torque. Must be like driving a good V8.

Power drops off at 6000rpm limiter now set to 6250rpm. Not driven it yet so can't comment about the 70 issue. And yes its like a v8 that revs like a 4

Ill wait. Mine will be an 1800cc zetec silver top. Would be interesting to see the differences. Mines got uprated cams and ill flowbench the head with the latter valves in. 250torque would be amazing in the Elan, it started life with 80..!! Thats development.

 

Still doesnt take anything away from steamers skills, fantastic craftsmanship and those results speak for themselfs.

The power drop off occurred at similar revs when it had the webber carbs, probably needs different cams. With the way this thing goes it needs no more bhp or torque, just going to make it as drivable as poss and sort out the cosmetics
