Pinto 2 Zetec

Recommended Posts

I have had a few problems with my Pinto so i am thinks of buying a brand new 2.0 zetec

Will there be many changes i will need to do to convert from a pinto?

Can i use my sierra type 9 gear box?

Do i need to modify the zetec sump?

Can i still use the Sierra brake master cylinder?

Many thanks

Hi this has been documented a few times but it's an extensive list

Budget around 3k to do it properly

The original clutch and flywheel can be used with the purchase of a new clutch pin from GBS for like £10

Thanks can i use the zetec sump or do i need to modify it? Or will the pinto sump fit?

The Pinto one will not fit.

I am not sure if you need one for the 2B, but on the Zero, I used a Raceline shallow sump. There are others, and I am sure it is possible to modify the existing sump.

premier motor sports, GBS and a few others offer up a sump.

The conversion will be around £1200 using bike carbs and megajolt, as said above would be more expensive if going injection ECU alone can cost from £600 to £800

there are quite a few threads on here with a comprehensive list required.

if you have a servo on the brakes I would ditch that as I believe it gets in the way and not needed anyway on these cars.

And doesn't the exhaust come out the other side as well? which will mean brake servo in the way of the inlet paraphernalia.
