2B wishbone coil overs.

Hi All,

I’m busy getting my 2B back on the road for the coming year after 6 years of hibernation.  I’m refreshing the front suspension, repainting the wishbones etc.  I noticed that the top and bottom bushes on my RH coil overs are quite squashed, allowing the shocker eyelet to make metal on metal contact with the lower wishbone bracket.  Does anyone know if it’s possible to replace the bushes and if so, with what?

Many thanks, Jon

(happy to be back reading and posting! ;-))

Hi Jon,

Do you know what make of coil-overs you have fitted ?          RH & GBS used to do a set of GAZ ones for the 2B (don't know if they still do).

If yours has a set of GAZ ones I think you should be able to get new bushes for them.  Dave at DamperTech should be able to help 01709 703992.

If they're not GAZ post up the make and somebody may well be able to help.

Steve

They’re the original ones RH sold with the 2B wishbone chassis. Green springs.  I think from memory the RH brochure had a scantily clad lady riding one…. I hope I’ve not invented that in my head 😉

I had these and would recommend you bin them.

My springs failed, lost tension and the car lost ride height.

The worst problem is the dampers they had very little compression resistance and a lot in rebound. You could close easily by hand and needed all your strength to extend. What this meant on the road is the car would botton out driving down a rough road or after hitting a few bumps.

I changed to GAZ dampers all round and it made a huge difference to the handling.
