    Had My Iva Today

UPDATE Had the retest this afternoon and to my delight the same tester who rembered the car from last time. A quick check on the 3 fails and he was more than happy with the fixes so Im now the proud owner of a pass certificate. Now to start the dreaded paperwork to dvla Ive already got the v55/5 from them ready to fill in.
  3. Try go get a photo that will help. As above I can lie by the side and reach under to where the cable joins the box on my type 9 as only the other week I fitted a locking bolt in the large part of the levers keyhole to prevent the cable ever coming out.
  4. I may have one on a spare pedal box thats in bits if you want me to check?
  5. Messaged you the details. Mike
  6. Just call gbs ( great British sport cars) they purchased Robin Hood and can carry out insurance repairs and I think still have some of the old moulds. I know they still produce the 2b stuff.
  7. Hi guys I have some bits left over from my build have listed some on eBay Revotec speed sensor new £45 posted Kitspares shorted Sierra drum handbrake cable was fitted but removed and not used. £20 plus postage prob around a fiver. Original kit supplied front wings in oxford blue 8 wide. Never fitted but do have marks from storage perfect for painting or wrapping. Ive started the bidding at £15 plus postage or if someone on here wants them drop me a pm and I can send the link. I also have boxes of parts from the Sierra donor most will probably get binned but have front Calipers, 2 sets of clocks just message if theres anything odd I may have it.

    Had My Iva Today

So today was the big day, the Iva. Got to my local testing station at beverley nice and early as I had a 7.30 test. Not long after the chap came over and introduced himself and the test begun. So it failed! But as crazy as it sounds Im really happy with my fail sheet lol. The tester was a genuinely nice chap who took the time to explain things and what they were checking for. So quite a few aspects of the test I was worried about the noise test been one but sailed through at 96db with the standard Robin Hood stainless manifold and back box. The brakes also worried me as I dont run with a servo and all the components were brand new and I didnt have the time or opertunity to bed them Im but again they got through with all green boxes. So my fail sheet contains 3 points all of which are fair and I fully agree with. 1. Wetting of fuel around pipe from tank at point it mounts to the pump not dripping but a clear leak. Now this has all been in place a year or so but Im guessing as Id just filled the tank the weight of the head of fuel caused this problem. Not a big issue and easily fixed which I could of done there but needed to return anyway so didnt see the point. 2. Upper steaming column mount was to flexible. After seeing how bad the things 2b supplied sheet of folded stainless was I had one laser cut to Colin ushers design. All I need to do is mount a brace from that to the chassis to stiffen it. 3. When clutch is depressed and brake been applied you could catch your clutch foot if wearing boots as they were. So simply move the brake pedal over slightly. My fault really as I built the box and adjusted it all nice and tight but too tight as it turned out. So thats it now I think ive got off very lightly and the cherry on the cake was the compliment from the tester on how good and attention to detail I had paid to the build. Will be ringing first thing Monday morning to book my 30min retest slot. Mike.
  12. I used the Gunson easy bleed system on mine that uses the spare tyre to pressure it which worked a treat forgetting fluid through. But to provide a good firm pedal it needed the good old fashioned 2 man approach shouting open, down, close, up lol
  13. Does the transit reservoir then sit level when mounted to the ka master when that is angled?
  14. I do have 4 pieces of stainless left from the pack of precut pieces that I have no idea what they are for but would do the job nicely and glue them from underneath. I dont think Ill be bothering with a screen time will tell.
  15. Yes them ones. 4 in total. Ps the harness covers fit a treat and look good too. Thanks
  16. Hi have people covered the holes for the heater vents for the Iva? Obviously a small rubber bung sorted the wiper holes but cant find any trim that fits and actually looks like its there to stay to sort the vents?
  17. Im actually after one of these pm me a price posted?
  18. I have some in blue got them for my 2b but they are flat sided not curved like the 2b so will fit a zero?
  19. Theres one on eBay at the moment may be the right size for you? Item number 372279714655
  20. Thats just a stock image of an orange kitcar as thats what route I wanted to go down. Mine wasnt complete to take a photo of it.
  21. Morning all so my dreaded Iva is booked 11th may and not particularly looking forward to it. Thought Id start a thread for all my little questions and once the car is something like ready Ill post some pics for you to pull apart haha. First off Im using the Sierra wheel for the test the center horn button is unused so if I just paint the horn symbol out will this suffice? Secondly I have a wiper stalk but no equipment installed I know a lot cut this off but would rather not damage them. If I was to just sand the white symbols off the stalk and stick something on saying not in use would this be ok? Thanks Mike.
  22. Any one know where to get some replacement bushes for the rear coilover the bottom bush that goes through the Sierra rear axle. Did find on here someone that used super flex bushes but that part number brings nothing up now. And before anyone says get new coilovers lol yes I know but not just yet.
  23. Thanks wanderer email received very helpful and to everyone else for you input and photos. Given me everything I need and pretty much confirmed what I was thinking. As always quick and helpful thanks Mike.
  24. I had thought of 40mm waste pipe but thought it would be too small so along the same lines. Do you have any photos?
  25. Afternoon all and happy Easter! Just after some advice on what and how people have covered the top frame rail on the sides that you step over to get in the car to cover the panel edge and rivits etc. got my Iva coming up and not sure how to tackle this one best. Cheers Mike.
