Nothing wrong with a power nap

Thanks, Nearly made a bid on this starter, but had a go at fixing the solenoid I had first, as the problem was a broken stud for the thin wire. Luckily I managed to fix a new stud and it is working! Cheers Nige

I hope it's this. I had just changed the water pump and because the way the radiator is plumbed, it is a pain to bleed. I hope it's not this . The engine has hardly run with since the head gasket was fitted. Fingers crossed, thanks for the replies. Nige

That is sad news about George, he was a great old lad. Nigel, Sarah & co -
Hi Gaz, The advice is really welcome. My problem is that my build is at the 5 year mark now and I installed my side repeaters when the SVA was still in force, I also have a deep hatred of poorly written and ambiguous legislation, which made me ask the question. Cheers Nige Soon to have two sets of side repeater lights

Hi, Please can someone tell me where the requirement to install repeater lamps at the outside edge of the vehicle is stated in the regulations? Having just read Revision 1 of the manual dated 27/03/09, I can't see how this requirement can be derived from what is written. There again I think that the following wording should be put forward for the gobbledigook award at the Plain English Society You could probably interpret that however you want and nobody could argue whether you were right or wrong

Thanks for your replies, i'll take more pictures when I've fitted the belts! Cheers Nige

Hi All, I know that you should be able to unfasten your seat belt mountings without dismantling the car, but does anyone know if you have to be able to install the belts with the seats installed? My outer mounts are hard to get to with the seats installed. You can get a spanner on to remove them, but installing the belt at the outboard lap position is impossible with the seats installed. Any thoughts welcome. Many Thanks Nige

That's not good, I wonder if it's to do with the front suspension set up. If so same applies to the 2B/4.

Looking good Steve, I like the invisible fixing Cheers Nige

Congratulations Steve, Ah 1989 now that was a year! He looked older than most that were getting served in the Bulls Head in Hazel Grove back then . Cheers Nige

Hi, Before you fit the nose cone grab hold of the bonnet edges and pull the bonnet edges inwards. I'm sure this is on the video's if you have them. It's normal to have the gap at the corners of the nose cone. Just start in the middle of the bonnet and work out with your fasteners, the corners will pull up tight. The nose cone is shorter than the edges of the bonnet though. HTH Nige

Not far (3 feet back and forward ), but my 2B has moved under its own steam for the first time today .

Hello and welcome. The Sub K is basically the same as the 2B/04. There are a number of sites you can visit, go to the links page above and have a look. Colin Ushers site is really good link Someone will no doubt have the video's available for you to borrow ( I need mine, I'm still building). My donor was also a 1.8 Sapphire with a CVH engine, but I ditched the CVH for a Pinto as that's what the chassis is designed for. Once you've stripped the donor, the first job is to tidy up all the welds and get rid of any splatter on the chassis, then get it painted. I would advise that you turn the chassis upside down and fit the floor, as it is a lot easier to fit the strengthening angles and the rear suspension subframe. Keep asking questions, all the knowledge you need is available within the club. Join the club for £15 and put your location into your profile, there's always someone nearby who will offer their advice and help. HTH Nige

Hi, My battery cost me £35 inc VAT at my local motor factors last week! Cheers Nige

Hi, Don't know if it would work for you, but here's an idea for the outer mount that I could adopt if I needed to - Get a 6 or 8 inch long box, flat plate or 2 inch angle section, drill it to accept the current seat belt mounting bolt and drill a couple more smaller diameter holes in the "outer seat belt mounting plate" and section. Fasten the section with 3 bolts, in order to stop the section rotating. Install an anchor nut (For box section - weld a nut to a piece of flat plate, slide into the box section and rivet in place) in the section the distance further aft you need. This should hopefully give you a mounting point where you need it. Other an that move your existing seat forward to get through the test (drive with your knees bent ) HTH Nige

Hi, Apologies if this has been posted before, but I haven't seen it. Digging around the interweb I came across this link to the draft IVA manual and thought it might be useful to those like me who will have to fork out and navigate the IVA Draft IVA Manual and click on IVA Inspection Manual M1 Passenger Cars V3.2 Cheers Nige

Hi all, Where is the best place to fit the choke on the dashboard? If I fit it infront of the gear lever, will it fall foul of the SVA sphere? Many Thanks Nige
