  1. Hi, Taking so long to build my car gives me more time to lose stuff This time it's one of the side repeaters from my donor! Before I go and spend too much on some after market one's, has anyone got through the SVA with the RH supplied items, or are there too many sharp edges? Cheers Nige

  5. Poor old lad, what with his backleg and now his paw. Get well soon George The look on dogs faces when they have something up with them always makes me smile - Don't they just know how to milk it! (our dog had a green bandage with smiley faces when he broke his dew claw ) Nige
  6. Hi All, Dropped a bit of a clanger and misplaced the guide bolts from the front brake calipers I have the basic caliper, I think they're known as Tevez ? Anyway they are from a 1991 Sapphire and I just want to confirm what I actually need looks like before I buy some new ones. Are they a long pin with a short thread and 7mm hex socket head? Many Thanks Nige
  7. Hi, Ressurecting an old post I know, but the subject is the same. I am having a bit of difficulty getting hold of the phc 201 hoses from my local parts shop. I got 2 hoses of different lengths given me today Does anyone know what model of Jag the hoses that fit the 2B4 are from, or the part number of any other suitable hoses? Many Thanks Nige
  8. Hi, My bonnet isn't 1.5" above the cross member either and it's mild steel. But I haven't any clearance problems with the master cylinder. Cheers Nige
  9. Yes very tragic, but lots of people do "amatuer" build aircraft. CAA document CAP 659 expains how.
  10. Hi, Presume it's same type of panel as 2B, in which case I don't think it should be there. Cheers Nige
  11. Shouldn't matter too much as its not structural. But from memory the general rule is 5D pitch 2D edge distance. Cheers Nige
  12. Do you always forget which side the petrol filler cap is when you drive a rental car etc? If you look at your petrol gauge, you will see a small icon of a petrol pump. The handle of the petrol pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the petrol pump. If your filler cap is on the left, the handle will be on the left. If your filler cap is on the right, the handle will be on the right. It is that simple! When I was told this, I took it with a pinch of salt, but I've checked and it's right on the car's I've looked at, apart from the 2B Check your's, see if it really is true and not just a fluke! Cheers Nige
  13. I reckon it would be easy and pretty cheap to make one of those remote plenum jobs and give it a try to see if "Boggs" are right. Cheers Nige
  14. On the first day, God created the dog and said: 'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.' The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?' So God agreed. On the second day, God created the monkey and said: 'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.' The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?' And God agreed. On the third day, God created the cow and said: 'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.' The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?' And God agreed again. On the fourth day, God created man and said: 'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.' But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?' 'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.' So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. Life has now been explained to you. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service. Go drive your hood
  15. I'd say so, I'm sure everyone has their good and bad buys, what was value for money and what wasn't etc for there to be enough topics and posts to warrant it. Cheers Nige
  16. Hi, Yes, you're right. I drilled and bolted through the chassis tube for the 1 inch angle. I don't think it really matters which way round the angle goes. HTH Nige

  23. Hi, I'm really getting ahead of myself here, but I was reading an article about a Striker and it had a bench seat which actually looked quite good. It got me thinking about cheap alternatives to fitting the Sierra seats. Has anyone fitted a bench type seat to their Hood ? Building my car on a really tight budget means posh seats will have to come when its on the road Cheers Nige
