  1. Thanks all, will look at a better cover, I've seen a couple for about £150 so maybe one of those and a few de humidifier packs will help. Looked at a outdoor "Carcoon" but they're a bit pricey (£500+). It cleaned off ok with a bit of anti mold spray. Loving the weather atm
  2. Hmm, this is my cover https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-accessories/car-covers-tarpaulins/halfords-all-seasons-car-cover-extra-small So maybe a better one? Or what about putting a small electric greenhouse heater in it. Ideas and suggestions welcome
  3. Hi I have to store my car outside and I have it under a 4 season car cover but when I took the cover off today the inside of the roof was covered in mold, does anyone have any suggestions. The cover had been on for about 1 month, weather has been rubbish so unable to get the cover off. Does anyone store car with roof off but under a car cover?
  4. Friend of mine down here in Devon now owns Quantum sports cars, there seems to be a thriving owners club and if I remember they had a good stand/ turn out at stoneligh
  5. Thanks for info Ian, the adjuster seemed to operate as when i put drums back on and pressed the brake pedal I heard the ratchet movement work. Im getting a local garage to look over it as now weather has turned I dont have anywhere undercover to work on it and im fed up working in the rain!! Im going to give them the shoes and new cylinders and let them thoroughly check everything
  6. Thanks Alan I was thinking something similar so will get a couple of brake cylinders, the only thing is that the cylinders do seem to move in and out. The pads were Mintex ones , number MFR163 but I think any 2.0L Sierra would do
  7. Anyone know what sort of handbrake cable fits a super spec, standard Sierra? It seems that one side of the rear brakes don't work. The handbrake cable works, I can see the cable pulling the lever on the affected side but doesn't stop the wheel turning and neither does the footbrake yet it passed MOT and the car will hold on a hill. I was changing wheel bearing and noticed the wear on the shoes looked "wrong" see photos 1st pic new shoes 2nd old shoes, so I fitted new ones but still not holding, the brake cylinder looks fine and the auto adjuster is free moving. Only checked one side as no garage and it started peeing down!!
  8. Hi Dean I have a spare wheel, it's an array but powder coated black and has a unused but old Yokohama tyre on it, yours for postage
  9. That's exactly what I said
  10. Try and replace all coilovers but my sister in law decided to convert her garage (which I did all my dash work last year in) into a work studio. So will have to do any work outside on driveway but not sure how easy it will be, is it a job that can be done outside? Oh and try and learn to weld!!
  11. Standard noise on Superspec, If you do a search on here or look at Alans blog its well documented. Mine is fairly quiet when engine is cold but gets a little worse when hot
  12. My superspec has a bag with a pump in it And it's fitted underneath the battery tray or around that area, the tray has a little hole cut out so you can fill it. I think it only gets used when they check it at MOT On a separate note I see you still have the metal cooling pipe going across the top of the engine, most of us superspec owners have "re jigged" the cooling system to do away with that pipe, AndyW is your man as I have changed the whole rad as well to something a little smaller but more efficient.
  13. Heres the pic of the heat shield bolted together underneath
  14. Heres my exhaust and cycle wing stay. The exhaust heat shield is just a piece of stainless steel wrapped around the cat and silencer and bolted together underneath. I think you can get combined stainless exhausts with a built in cat (which is what I may do to mine when it fails). The cycle wing stays are as Alan said just a piece of metal tube bent at an angle with the wings screwed/bolted/glued to them. Anymore photos just ask

    Tyres

Ive just changed my 20 year old Yokohama A539's for some of the new Toyo TR1's (tread pattern is nearly identical to the Rainsport 3's). Got set off ebay for about £120 delivered. Made so much difference to the ride and handling https://www.toyo.co.uk/tire/pattern/new-proxes-tr1
  16. Hi Took car to a show at Mount Edgecombe Country Park in Torpoint Cornwall and I was very surprised when a judge walked upto me and gave me a winners certificate, I didn't realize it was that sort of show as car wasn't polished or anything!!
  17. Well hopefully sorted it but it took a complete breakdown on way to local car show ( which I won 1st in class, photos to follow!!) When it broke it wouldnt start or if it did it wouldnt idle at all and I eventually noticed I couldnt hear the fuel pump prime so wiggled some wires under bonnet and heard relays clicking, 30 mins later traced to a loose earth lead on the chassis (and it had been touching manifold so was a little melted), tightened up and started 1st turn. Idle problem was down to accelerater cable not fitted into the throttle assy correctly.

    Wanted

I have one, well its what I cut off mine so you may need to put a couple of tubular sleeves over it to join on to your car. I can send some pics if you want
  20. Do you know what it looks like, can't see anything that resembles a fuel filter as I know them (clear plastic with filter inside). Will go on a decent run with memslogger running when weathers a bit better and send you the results Alan
  21. Thx steve someone mentioned maybe dirty fuel filter not sure where it is on a superspec. I think the fuel pump is part of the whole fuel level sensor assembly in the tank (mk 5/6 escort I think)
  22. Good idea about dipping clutch and revving engine to mark the spot. I reset the TPS but it comes back, will try cleaning contacts Regarding the mems memory I can't be certain I hear it when I turn ignition off but don't normally isolate the battery straight away as fan is still running so I try and let it run for a while before turning the big "red" key. I do usually hear a series of clicks when I turn ignition on though
