  1. Jason It sounds to me that you are getting a feed back to the ignition Green wire from the alternator through the Bright 6 when you turn off the ign.switch. I have had this problem on some systems and to overcome it you need to fit a small diode into the ignition supply wire to stop the feed returning to the switch. Hope that this will help you sort out your fault. Regards Martin

  3. Hi all I've just put my cylinder head back on with new bolts but need to remove it again do I need to use new bolts again when I replace it or should the other be ok. I haven't run the engine yet so only tightened to first stage. Also I've got a 32/34 DTML weber carb has any one got a picture of where the pipes go to on the front and back many thanks Robin ============================================================================== I would say that if you have not fully torqued down the bolts to the final setting then you should be able to remove and refit the head without any problems. The general point of using new bolts is that the old bolts have been stretched so if reused then could break. Regards Martin

    Whats It Worth

Andrew I purchased my part built 2B sliding pillar when R.H.E. had their auction sale in May 2005 and payed £2450 for it, as a rolling build with all main parts so no need for a doner. I have striped right back to the bare frame to undo all the wrongs that had been built into it and I am still rebuilding it to a very high standard and hope to have it on the road next year. At that time a new kit was about £3000 + VAT then you had to get a doner car to strip for the parts. So depending how far the car is built will depend on how much you may be able to sell it for. At the moment it is a buyers market so you have to way the pros and cons of how much you are prepared to take for it. Hope this may help you set a figure that you have in mind, but would think a min. of the price of a new kit if you have all the bits to complete. Regards Martin

    Spacers

Has anyone found a good source of material to make spacers from. Using washers seems a bit of a faf but finding a suitable thick wall tube is proving quite hard. I would prefer to source / buy the item rather than use up another favour getting them made for me by one of the contractors. Thanks phil -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like some spacers made then I have a lathe at home and could make them for you or any other member that wants them. Send me the dimensions that you want and material required so that I can source a supplier. Regards Martin

    Sliding Pillar Problems

Could not get all the pictures in one post so next one here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi John if it is any use to you have attached a couple of pictures of how my part built was when I first got it. I found that the disc was hitting the frame on the suspension when it moved so have made new mountings top and bottom also fitted 1" spacers with longer studs so as to fit cosworth disc's. See the pictures attached. Please Note! the spacers are fitted to the inside of the disc. Martin
  17. Hi Tony From what I see from your pictures you have taken this picture from under the car. As the sheared bolt is a long one then I assume that the alternator is a single bolt fixing at the top mounting point. If you are unable to fit a spanner onto the nut then the only alternative would be to use a hammer and cold chisel to shock the nut from off the sheared bolt. I think that you will find that the bolt is in a threaded hole in the casting that you have taken the picture of. Please make sure that you undo the nut in a anticlockwise direction. Once you can loosen the nut with a bit of luck you should be able to unscrew the sheared bolt out. Regards Martin
  18. NO do not grease the starter or ring gear or you will run into big trouble with your starter becoming grease bound and sticking. Regards maca

    Hello From Australia

Hi Richard If it helps have posted a couple of pictures here for you to see the mod's I did to mine so as to make the shaft more secure at the bottom mounting. Regards Martin
  20. Hi Colin I found that if you have a vice to compress the spring a little or use your spring compressors then use very strong tie wraps to hold it secure, that you can then get it into the frame ok, you may need to use a few around differant coils to tension it in the first place then after fitting cut them off. Regards Martin
  21. Hi Mat We are all pleased for your efforts to have the site up and running again, was wondering what had gone wrong tried logging in a few times yesterday well done. Regards Martin
  22. Hi Colin Looks to me like you may have the same problem that CHENZO had the other week check out his post Help Please dated 16th Aug 08. From the picture it looks like the dummy shaft has moved upwards maybe due to the pinch bolt not clamping the dummy shaft there should also be a plate that is welded to the unit that bolts to the lower brake caliper mounting check that this is not broken. A picture from the rear of the set up would help us to let you know what the problem is. Regards Martin
